About
You can’t miss the entrance to the home of Space Shuttle Atlantis®: a mighty full-scale space shuttle stack of two solid rocket boosters and orange external tank. Inside, Atlantis is displayed as only astronauts have seen her in space, rotated 43.21 degrees with payload doors open and Canadarm extended, as if just undocked from the International Space Station (ISS). It is one of three space-flown shuttles displayed in the United States. Also inside, learn how to dock and land the shuttle with training simulators, enjoy more than 60 interactive exhibits, and then strap in for lift-off at Shuttle Launch Experience®. Atlantis Walking Tours depart from the third floor at 10:30 AM, 11:45 AM, 1:30 PM, and 4:15 PM daily.

A lot to see and take in. Great history and exhibits for young kids to get inspired with STEM. The astronauts had similar back ground and upbringing. It has lead me in the aerospace industry.

The Atlantis building houses a fantastic exhibition of the Space Shuttle programme. You walk past the launch vehicle/rocket and, on entering the building you shuffle into a theatre to watch a film about the Space Shuttle programme. I liked the effect of the screen at the end being lifted to reveal Atlantis. Amazing. Hanging at an angle of 43.21° with the payload bay doors open. This was a jaw opener for me. We arrived just at the moment when an elderly gentleman, a ex 6th grade school teacher, gave a small group of us a guided tour around Atlantis. He explained the programme and also dwelled on the main tragedies with Challenger and Colombia.

To complement this we then took the courage to take a "ride" on the Shuttle Launch Experience which, as the name suggests puts you through a simulation of a Space Shuttle launch. Apparently this is very realistic – I certainly have never experienced anything like it before. But it's not for the faint hearted...

The shuttle was very nicely presented the 'history' and overly produced preview to get to the exhibit was not worth the time. The video was corny, everyone was crammed into a room where you could not see the video well and had to suffer through the videos.

Thank you for your review. All of our entry pres-show experiences can be bypassed by seeing a crewmember. We hope you will visit us again soon.

It was surprising how small the shuttle was to what I was expecting. A great experience to see the actual aircraft.

There is a fantastic presentation and unveiling of the shuttle followed by a massive exhibit hall with a ton to see. I was floored by this and this alone was with the price of entry.

Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit at KSC showcases the orbiter spacecraft and tells the story of NASA’s 30 year Space Shuttle Program. It is only one of three space flown shuttles displayed in US. Would very highly recommend doing the space shuttle simulation ride at this exhibit. It is not at all scary but gives a good virtual experience of traveling in a space shuttle. One will need to spare at least 90 minutes for this exhibit to enjoy it to the fullest.

You feel like you understand so much more when you see the real thing! The size, shape, etc. The famous heat tiles that we've heard about.
