We took our 4 kids 8-13 and they enjoyed trying to find things that others might not have found. We didn't see alligators like others have posted, but it was midday in the middle of July, if I were a gator I'd be hiding under water or under a tree...we saw plenty of different birds, and BALD EAGLES! First time... More

We bicycle here very frequently. It's pristine and filled with native Floridian wildlife including incredible birds, ducks, cranes, egrets, herons, etc. And, yes, gators -- lots and lots of gators. Some of the alligators are the 'big boys' -- 12 feet and larger. They won't bother you if you don't bother them, but NEVER feed them. A good place to... More

These are man-made ponds surrounding a lake (you can't tell the difference). If you go there at the right time; early morning or early evenings, you never know what you'll see. Alligators; probably, eagles; maybe, and even a Caracara pair. There are so many species of birds, otters, and maybe even some cows (I also saw some cowboys). Bring your... More

I wish we would not have forgot our camera on our trip to Florida. The wildlife here is amazing to view and capture in photos. We saw alligators and many types of birds while there, but there are much more there, just depends on the day I guess. We drove from Orlando, and it only took about 30 mins. Our... More

I love to take photos and was disappointed a didn't have a long lens with me but still managed to capture a couple of herons that were close to the road. With the heat and humidity in June, I was very grateful for the ability to drive through the area-that was also a feature much appreciated by my parents who... More

I prefer drive thru instead of walking or bike. It does have a wide variety of birds. We could also see 3 alligators. It's beautiful. But contrary of some reviews I must say that it does have a large donation box at the entrance for those who voluntarily wants to donate (which is common in most of free and/or natural... More

We've been here twice in the last year. We've seen alligators, all types of birds and other animals. The variety of wildlife depend upon the migration season. There is no shade, so make sure you take a hat and water with you while you walk the area. Also make sure you have good control of your kids. You'll be walking... More

When you have visitors, you should take them to these Wetlands. It's remarkable how the birds have gravitated to these artificial wetlands. They have benches and walking paths throughout and on a nice day, it has to be one of the most peaceful and refreshing places in Central Florida. There are also natural roadways if you just want to drive... More

Be sure to bring your camera and set aside so time since the vast amounts of wetland activities will draw you in. Our family has been multiple times. I have seen Roseate Spoonbills, Ospreys, Herons, Anhingas, Cormorants, Lipkin, Various ducks, Ibis and Egrets of all types, plus alligators. The nests are full of babies. It's a lot of fun. Drive,... Unless it's after a rain you can drive through and pull over to spot birds with camera or binoculars. OR you can walk/bike. Stay on the roadway and move slowly to not miss what may be just alongside. Have taken multiple trips to these wetlands, usually during early May. Have spotted Crested Caracara, Sandhill Cranes, Osprey, Hawk, all types of... More
