The backwaters of the dam with serene hills in the background is an excellent location. Tourism is not developed here, for reasons unknown. The only good place to stay here is Shivavilas Palace in Sandur. Prior booking necessary and they don't entertain walk-ins. Kumaraswamy temple, an age old temple on a hill top near Sandur also is a must visit place. Understand that it was built by Chalukyas. The drive up the hill takes you along the forests around and is an excellent drive.…
