Stopped by on a jet ski tour while the sun was setting, definitely a perfect picture moment and a must see.

Nice destination for a boating trip. Have seen more amazing things but it is interesting to see how the ocean and beaches can change over time. Read about the history before you go.

The first time we boated past Cape Romano my jaw dropped. It's so out of place and very cool, just hanging in there out in the Gulf of Mexico. I like it so much it's my TripAdvisor photo...one of many I have taken at this...More

Be sure to read up on what you are going to see! Unfortunately as with most things there is graffiti but it is still so cool to take a ride and check these out!

If you have friends in town, and are out boating, this is a great site to see. Also, there is a very nice deserted beach right there. Someone was a real pioneer. You can spend a couple of enjoyable hours if you bring a picnic...More

Cape Romano is the Gulf's most unique sight along the southwest coast. Marco Island is the best launching point. In the absence of local knowledge, a professional tour provider is advisable due to EXTREME shoaling throughout Cape Romano's access. When you visit the site, you're...More

An amazing place and take the time to research the history before you go. One word of warning is that you want to stay upwind of the ruins as the birds have made it their home and it stinks downwind

We visited this as a part of our time with Eco Adventure tour which was the perfect way to see it. We saw The dome houses in 2003 and now in 2017. They have changed quite a bit.

Is it possible to get close to the homes by foot? Even if your a ways away I want the experience but don't have time for the boat tour.

Once you get to Cape Romano Island, you could walk/swim out to the houses (the water is not deep), but you do have to get to the island in the first place.

I believe you can go in your own boat because they do shelling tours and there are people on the islands all the time
