While I understand that the hurricane caused damage and tourists safety is top priority, I felt like the fee to go out on the pier should have been reduced.

I wanted to walk out onto the pier and they wanted me to pay extra. Save your $$$, you can get wonderful views at other locations

You pay a minimum to enter and you can take your fishing rod and your baits. There are several types of fish with different baits and not many people do not get in the way. You have the possibility to rent fishing rods.

I'll answer my own question since I'm here now.. The pier is open but only to the half way point. 5 or 6 months till it will be repaired. Didn't stop anyone from having fun though. Full of people fishing and catching fish.

I'm here now, it's October 1st and its open to the halfway point. Still full of people fishing and catching fish though. We had fun! Guy in the bait shop said repairs would take 5 or 6 months.
