The gentle ride on this rails to trails path was perfect biking for my husband and I. Accessed it from Blossom Park inSeminole which has restrooms and ample parking. We went south this morning. Lots of fun, friendly bikers and walkers.
Very nice place to walk or bike. Trail is kept clean and nice. People on the trail are friendly. Only couple things: bring water not very many places to get that, could use more parking. They also should have emergency phones.
Our ride began with a short amount of street crossings but it felt comfortable. The ride to Dunedin was very enjoyable with nice scenery. The trail was busy but not crazy. Dunedin was a great destination...we were able to park our bikes in town and...More
This is a good place to ride a bicycle and safer than riding on the road with cars. Fast bicycle riders are not always courteous when passing however. The polite thing to say is "on your left" or "passing". You still also need to watch...More
I remember years back when the first sections of the trail opened and have watched it grow and with added diversionary trails offer the rider, explorer, exerciser, a real benefit in Pinellas County.
A really nice feature of the trail is the people it attracts,...More
This walking trail starts literally right on Tampa Bay and runs through St. Petersburg, Seminole, Clearwater, Tarpon Springs and points North. All told, with all the side trails and accessible parks off the trail, it's well over 100 miles of car free trials with great...More
I use the local section of the trail several times a week to ride my bike or walk with a friend. Very well maintained. There are also volunteer rangers. We are so fortunate to have this close by. I do wish the trail would get...More

Define safely. You will have to leave the beach and head towards the mainland. That means you have to go over the causeway. If you are driving there it's no big deal. You can find parking and peddle wherever you want. Tip: If you are heading from Clearwater go north on the trail. That would be towards Tarpon Springs and Dunedin. If you go south towards St Pete it will get a little shady, and it isn't a very pretty ride.
As far as accessing state parks...rent a car. Once you leave the trail it's not bike friendly. The trail will not take you to state parks. You can access Honeymoon, but it's a haul.
