Out for a bike ride with my boys, and we turned down the neighborhood and saw the entrance - have lived in Winter Haven over 30 years and had no idea it was there! excellent hiking/biking trails.

Be sure to bring your camera and plenty of time to walk around and enjoy the scenery. Feeling a little more adventurous? There is a canoe launch which offers beautiful view of the gardens from Lake Rochelle.

I attended a wedding on the grounds and it was such a pretty place. The rhododendron was in bloom. The building itself was perfect for a small reception. I think there were approximately 60 guests. It has a real rustic charm.

I have a home nearby but only found this place when my GPS showed it under Nearby Attractions. It's great! Lovely gardens and lakeside to wander around. Give it a try. You'll be glad you did.

This is a historic estate on Lake Rochelle that is now open to the public. It has a picnic shelter, restrooms and playground with nice equipment, a Florida-Friendly demonstration garden as well as other garden areas with unusual trees and shrubs. There are trails to explore, a lovely gazebo near the lake and the historic house can be rented for... More

We took a picnic lunch and sat under the pavilion - very quiet - nice playground area for children to play on - there was bathrooms available as well. Worth a visit !

This looks like a really nice spot for an outdoor wedding. The house overlooks a sweeping lawn extending down to the lake. We expected a trail along the lake but couldn't see one, so we just took a quick walk around.

Need to get away from the hustle and bustle of work and take a nice break. Take a visit out to the Mackay Gardens and Lakeside Preserve. It is a quiet place with several walking trails taking you through a wooded area where you can listen to the birds singing and view many different species of plant life along the... More

In the quaint town of Lake Alfred in Polk County, Florida you will find the beautiful and pristine Mackay Gardens & Lakeside Preserve, just off of Highway 17/92. The city had the opportunity to purchase the property from a developer and did so, thereby preserving this remarkable property with its lovely Mackay winter homestead and 110 acres of land. Driving... More

The grounds and trails of this park are fabulous -- beautiful setting on the lake, play equipment and a picnic shelter available, good parking. The old house on property is available for rental for parties, weddings, etc. Beautiful old house, but in need of some restoration
