As a family, it was something we were interested in. There is a statue with two walls stones to read. We enjoy learning, so we found this to an interesting site. It is small and we stayed about 15 minutes. It is in a park not far from the Monument of States. We went in October of 2010 as a family (three adults, no teens...but those were the only options to pick from in order to post a review). If you are in the area, it is a nice monument/memorial. I didn't know much about that part of the war, so I liked reading about it.

A small but moving memorial to the World War 2 Bataan Death MArch, which occurred inthe Phillipines after the largest surrender of Americans to an enemy, inthis case the Japanese who brutally marched the Americans in summer heat without food or water over 70 miles to a camp. Many Filipinos risked death to throw food to the Americans, and many were killed by the Japanese. This monument shos an American soldier being helped by 2 Filiponos. This memorial was created and built by the large Filipino community in Osceola County, so that the sacrifice of 2 nations would be remembered. Because they certainly do not teach these kind of events in schools today. But that's another talk.

Local and foreign tourists are encouraged to visit Corregidor Island to see the World War 2 relics and tunnel. The historic place will show you the Filipino soldiers' nationalism and love of country.

The Bataan-Corregidor Memorial is located in Lakefront Park near the famed "Monument to States." This very moving memorial is dedicated to the Philippine and American soldiers who fought and struggled against the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, especially the battles on Corregidor Island, Bataan, and the brutality of the Bataan Death March during World War II.

This is a simple, moving monument with plaques explaining what happened in that area of the Phillipines in 1941. A map shows the route of the Death March. Well done and solemn. This is across the street from the developing waterfront at the edge of Lakefront park. There is easy, free parking on the streets.

It is definitely worth your time to stop and read the monument. Children and all of us need to learn and be reminded of this part of our country's history. There is a lot of construction going on in this area. More things are going to be added in the near future. There is a very nice playground for the children nearby.

The Bataan-Corregidor Memorial in Downtown Kissimmee's Lakefront Park shows that through friendship and strong will, one man can create a lasting memory for a community. Menandro M de Mesa recognized the practically forgotten American memory of the Bataan Death March, and felt strongly that it must be remembered. Through friendship, fundraising, and sheer determination he was able to see through his dream of memorializing those who fought and lost their lives during the Bataan Death March in World War II. Definitely worth a visit.

It is a lovely depiction of a horrible event where over 30,000 lost their lives on the death march. The account of what happened is well written and informative. We must never forget such atrocities and learn from them.

Very touching memorial if you know the story. Stopped and read many of the bricks there and found a couple of Bataan Survivors among them. Beautiful setting on lake in downtown Kissimmee. Many restaurants close by.

A very original monument in the famous Lake Tohopekaliga. Very well kept and accessible to all. Also a historic spot not only for Kissimmee but for the whole world.
