Spirit Snorkeling of Marathon – providing daily snorkel trips to Sombrero Reef & Pirate’s Cove. Specializing in families and first time snorkelers, our friendly crew will take you on a fun filled adventure to the either the Sombrero Reef Marine Sanctuary and Lighthouse or to our special location on the Florida Bay—Pirate’s Cove. Sombrero Reef is the third largest barrier reef in the world and this beautiful 30 acre coral reef ranges from 2–30 feet deep with thousands of tropical fish. The Sombrero Lighthouse was built before the Civil War and today still helps mariners navigate the Keys with its light. Coral Reefs are among the most biologically diverse ecosystems on earth. They are second only to the tropical rain forests in the number of species they harbor, and indeed are sometimes called “The Rain Forests of the Sea”. You haven’t really seen the Keys until you’ve seen our under water areas. If the weather is too rough to go out to Sombrero Reef our dedicated crew will take you over to Pirate’s Cove, where the water is generally much calmer. Here you will see many species of tropical fish, under water plant life, lobsters and even sea horses. The water is quite shallow, making it a perfect spot to snorkel. Even sightseers enjoy our trips as many species can be seen from the boat. We take no scuba divers, we only go to shallow water snorkeling locations and Back Water Eco tours.

Really enjoyed my snorkeling trip with Captain Pips. Two words that elevated it to excellent - Prescription goggles! I had forgotten my contacts and this saved the experience. Our snorkeling visibility wasn't all it could be, I think it's just getting better from the hurricane,...More

Capt Dan and Jenna were amazing! They were courteous and funny and even watched some of our kids on the boat so I could snorkel. I wasn't a very clear day, but there were sooooo many fish to see! I absolutely recommend them.

Very nice and organized tour. We stayed in Captain Pips and the boat leave from there. Very convenient. The boat takes you to sombrero reef which is very nice with plenty of colorful fish. Water was quite clear and warm during Thanksgiving week. Gena and...More

To be honest, it was quite an disappointment, actually. We didn’t see anything at all, the water was very cloudy. I know, that the water is not Spirit snorkelings problem, but if I had known it before, I would not have spent the money. It...More

We knew the conditions wouldn't be that great, but they were worse than we thought, and worse than we were led to believe. A lot of new, even non swimmers on the boat, and the crew didn't appear to do what was needed. Most had...More

Went three times in one week, conditions ranged from perfect (more fish than I've ever seen) to okay (still was able to see and photograph fish). Crew was very helpful and accommodating, supplied prescription snorkeling mask when I forgot my equipment.

Most people in the keys don't want to get up early in the morning, so we reduce the price as an added incentive at 9am.

Yes we have storage buckets, but you may want to place the items in a waterproof pouch. We do sell waterproof pouches at the Spirit kiosk.

Sorry for the delay response, I am double checking with the Captain, we have recently moved the boat and I am not sure if the dock can accommodate. Is it a travel wheelchair or larger?
