Worth the effort to find this hurricane memorial on the ocean side of the road (approx. mile marker 81). The use of the local Keys stone is fantastic. Read the story of the tragedy and who is buried under the memorial. Parking is on the...More

The hurricane monument is worth a quick stop. It is a great memorial to a powerful storm. It sits immediately off the highway, is free and is easy to access.

This hurricane monument is a reminder of how dangerous the weather can be. The recent storm caused so much damage and everyone needs to heed the warnings to move to safer ground in the event of storm settings.

On left side of the number 1 highway going west, so you get to cross busy traffic both ways. A short visit and interesting monument.

Stuck in the traffic? Need to be reminded that you don't have it so bad? This is the place. A great piece of history, and puts things in perspective.

Takes just a minute to stop and understand. Combined with the railroad history and the veterans that lost their lives in addition to the residents it is stark reminder that weather will win - we are just better at getting warnings out and evacuating .
