I didn't know about this place until my friend and I read about it in a flyer on our way to Key West. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our day trip to Key West. From the outside, it looks like a big butterfly themed gift shop but that's only the entrance to a beautiful paradise. You must visit this conservatory if you like butterflies!!! The ambiance is out of this world. It should be advertised as one of the must see of Key West!!

Building looks bigger than it really is, but worth the visit. Inside butterflies are literally flying everywhere. A number of different species of birds, finches, doves, quail... The best are Rhett and Scarlet the two flamingos who walk right up to you for their photo op. Love the plants that accompany the exhibits. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Pay to park directly next to the conservatory.

A very popular venue. A small queue, but as you enter the conservatory, mind your feet! You walk into a haze of blue butterflies, as well as other butterflies and also birds. This was amazing, just beware that you don't take one away with you!

This is a wonderful place for both children and adults. Not only are there many fabulous butterflies, but also beautiful birds. It is not a big place, but it is crammed full of things to see, so take your time. If the turtles are hiding under the bridge, an employee can lure them out with some snacks. And don’t miss the emerging butterflies in the case by the exit.

I'm not a fanatic about butterflies, but stopped in here, since it was near the Southernmost Point. Lots of great plants, and of course butterflies. It was small, and it seems like we were done in about a half hour, but still was fun and worth a look.

It is not a very big area so it can seem crowded. But your focus is on the butterflies flying all around you. It is a great opportunity for photographers as it seems the butterflies and birds are trying to pose for pictures for you. We loved that the names of the plants and trees were displayed to help you plan your own butterfly garden. The guide who was there was very knowledgeable and helpful.

We even had the blue butterflies land several times on my ball cap. We enjoyed the casual walk-through and a bit of history about their butterflies. We did also buy one of the blue butterflies that were mounted in glass for our daughter and grand daughter.

We had a lovely visit here! If I could leave 4.5 I would. The only drawback was how crowded it was and with Covid at a high rate in South Florida they should have controlled the numbers even more than they did. That said, though I've been in larger butterfly sanctuaries, this one had so many species along with birds and folks seemed to respect their autonomy to assure their health. It was stunning and too the birds were a nice bonus!

Had to wait in line for awhile to see this exhibit. Not sure if this is the norm..or if it was because it was 50 degrees in Key West. Once in it was very crowded. The butterflies were beautiful though. Hundreds of butterflies and birds fly all around you and even land on you. Very short exhibit and a little expensive for the time you are able to spend in there..but if you can find a time that isn't busy..it would be a lot more worth it.

A highlight of our trip to Key West. So glad we stopped and did this! The variety of butterflies is amazing and there is an added bonus of some beautiful birds that live among them. Some birds I’ve never seen before. Everything is perfect in this setting and you can take your time going through or sit in the middle and enjoy all of the lovely butterflies going around you. Would highly recommend.
