An exceptional museum that provides a concise history of Key West as well as a remarkable collection of art works from local artists. I was most impressed with the exhibit detailing the construction of the Florida East Coast railroad by Henry Flagler. The engineering for this railroad from Miami including the Seven Mile bridge is fascinating and awe inspiring. A... More

The Old Customs House is a beautiful building, both outside and in. The exhibits cover the fascinating history of the Navy in Key West, Earnest Hemingway's life and fifty-plus line drawings buy Guy Harvey illustrating the text of The Old Man and the Sea. Well worth an hour or two of your time.

If you have seen all the main attractions, this may be worth a small amount of your time. The outside of the building and the outdoor sculptures are awesome. Inside, there are changing exhibits. I would give this a solid C.

If you love Seward Johnson's sculpture garden near Princeton, New Jersey - than you will love the sculptures around the Custom House starting with the huge statue in front of the sailor and the nurse kissing - famous photo from WWII. Go around the back and see others as well as on the porch too. However, you have to go... More

This is for the adults in the family. This building in the center of town, has a lot of paintings and sculptures. A very big display of hemingway's work. Well worth the entry fee to this building. There is also a display owned the building of the sea highway.

This museum is worth at least 2-3 hours. It showcases the importance of Key West to American history over the last 200 years. The influence of the military in the development of the area's history cannot be overestimated. From the development of trade, to the Spanish American War, to the building and destruction of Flagler's railroad, it is all here!

This is a beautiful building and it is easy to imagine all the goods coming in and out of it, people in their offices registering cargoes! Meanwhile the exhibits of both art and history are informative and quick, meaning that you can learn a lot without having to stand for hours reading small cards. HIghly recommend it.

Excellent museum. When we went, they had the art of Mario Santiago in addition to excellent exhibits on the fascinating general history of Key West and of Hemingway. Definitely worth visiting for all that and the beautiful architecture

After walking past the Customs House several times and photographing the outdoor art, we decided to add it to our "Morning of Museums" in the Keys. We did not regret it! There was an exhibit by Guy Harvey which illustrated Hemingway's Old Man and the Sea that was wonderful. Other exhibits included the story of Key West and the Navy,... More

I visited the Custom House Museum on the recommendation of the hotel staff & it was terrific! From historical exhibits concerning the sinking of the Maine & the Spanish-American War to fascinating exhibits about Hemingway and about the building of the railroad to Key West, the museum is well laid-out and full of interesting information about Key West and its...
