The house was named for William Curry, a penniless Bahamian immigrant who made his fortune reputedly as a salvager -those scurrilous fellows who preyed on shipwrecked travelers in Florida's pirate-infested waters.- Curry attained status as Key West's first millionaire and began building the Mansion in 1869. The architectural details are common to wreckers, incorporating elements of many ports-of-call: the widow's walk of New England, the ornate trellises and balustrades of New Orleans and the columns and colonnades of the Deep South. Curry's son Milton completed the Mansion in 1899, furnishing it with the 18th-century antiques and Victorian pieces gracing the parlor today. The imposing entry is paneled in bird's-eye maple, handwrought spindles and Tiffany glass sliding doors. A formal dining room is staged with Haviland china and faux replicas of the Curry family's original solid-gold Tiffany flatware. An 1853 Chickering piano, reputedly most recently of Henry James's Newport home, sits in the music room. Key Lime Pie was first created in the Curry Mansion kitchen by Aunt Sally. Today the home of innkeeper, Edith Amsterdam, the Mansion is also an intriguing museum listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Curry Mansion Inn...where the elegance of Key West's past is equaled only by the elegance of it's present.

This is our 3rd time in Key West so we had seen the biggest attractions. I was really looking forward to visiting this house, which is a guest home and a "museum." The house is beautiful outside but honestly, inside, it looks like a Victorian house stuffed with crap. We also met people staying there who were not happy at... More

If your looking for a great location then look no further. You are steps from Duval and most all other outstanding attractions. The B&B is gorgeous and very unique. The porch on the mansion as well as the house across the street were my favorite part. The only slight improvement I would make are the mattresses. They were hard as... More

Gorgeous place, rooms spacious, clean and can walk to Duval. Loved the huge porches and sat outside frequently. The beds however need to have new mattresses they were extremely uncomfortable. The canopy over the bed was patched and in rough condition needed to be replaced. Loved the vintage feel but needed to have throughout the room, cheap hotel lamps and... More

This is a unique B&B. Stay inside the mansion where you will feel like time stopped. Happy Hour & snacks included with a very talented singer, yummy breakfast, free parking a block away from Duval St, what more could you ask for! The owner was very accommodating to our needs when we requested a room change for my grandma.

This is our "go to" place when we're in Key West. It is strategically located in Old Town within easy walking distance to Duvall Street, Garrison Bight and Mallory Square. The rooms are spacious, and the hospitality is great! The old mansion is a nice reminder of Key West in days past.

After the razzmatazz and eccentricity of Duval Street, Curry Mansion is a step back in time to a more stylish era. Beautiful interior and exterior, friendly staff, good value and a lovely solution to a damp afternoon. Views from the Widdows Walk are amazing if you can face the climb out into the roof. You are left to wander at... More

Great location. Great history. Family business passed on from generation to generation. $9 cab ride to and from the airport.

The Curry Mansion is a throwback from an era that you don't get to enjoy anymore. It was a well kept, clean, and wonderful place to stay. We stayed there for our Honeymoon and will most definitely stay there again as soon as possible.

I stayed here about 4 nights and had one of the rooms out back. They have a nice breakfast every morning where you have several options including custom omelettes. Each afternoon there is a happy hour with live music. They are really easy going and the staff was very helpful. The location is awesome too so there's not a lot... More
