Fort Martello has become the home of the Joe Allen Garden Club. The Club has done a beautiful job of integrating a botanic garden into the historic fort. Well worth the time to explore. It is free, but a donation is suggested.

West Martello tower is a really nice array of different plant life and trees. There are some amazing plants there, not to mention it brings about a different environment by it being right beside the beach a must see. Not to mention it's also free!

The Martello is free but a donation is suggested (well worth it). It is part of an old fort which is beautifully maintained and so interesting. If you enjoy the wonders of man's accomplishments and natures unique display of beauty, then you will cherish this unique experience. The volunteers do a great job with the tour and information as it... More

It isn't really a tower so much as a garden with fort walls around it; it is very nice but I wouldn't go too far out of my way to see it; I was happy to spend 15 minutes there.

I was walking a long the Higgs beach and accidentally found this place. This place is free for public. Just like Fort Zachary, West Martello Tower was also a military base a long time ago. Now it is a garden. It is a nice place to walk around or sit down for cooling down.

Great place to visit when you need to get away from the KW bar tourist mode. Spectacular gardens with local plants/trees identified. While there, an orchid show was going on, wow!

This old fort which has been converted into a very attractive garden is well worth a visit. Begin your visit with a short summary of the fort’s history given by a volunteer at the entrance and then proceed through the well-tended gardens. A variety of tropical plants along the garden’s pathways await you. A very interesting garden with much more... More

Been to Key West many times and never heard of this attraction. Took a walk one morning and found this on our way. Nice small gardens provide a nice quiet contrast to Duval Street. Admission is free, though give a donation.

We always love to visit Martello Tower when in Key West. Besides the old fort setting, the gardens are peaceful and serene in the beach setting. Educational too!
