We looked at the oldest house from the street. Actually, we had walked past it 3 times not realizing what it was until we went looking for it. There didn't seem to be anything in particular going on at the time.

The Oldest house holds interesting 1800 's history, memorabilia and stories. You can spend a hour or more here touring the home, garden and little separate kitchen- "Cook House". Guides on site are friendly and very knowledgeable. Antiques and amazing stuff in every room; also in the nearby Cook House. Well kept clean yards and exterior.

We just "happened" upon this fascinating bit of Key West history, staffed completely by very well-informed volunteers from the Key West Historical Society, who tell you the story of the owners and Key West history. The original portion of the house, separate kitchen and gardens are open and restored with some of the original furnishings. There is no entry charge--and... More

This is not a place to tour or spend a lot of time, just another location to add to your overall view of the key.

Bearing in mind museums are so expensive, this one is free and only suggests a donation. It was very quiet, so we were able to walk around and enjoy the house. Interesting and enthusiastic docent on site. Well worth a detour if your walking in town. Also there are toilets in the grounds that a free to use if visiting.

Thank you for visiting the Oldest House & Gardens when you were on vacation. The House is owned by the state of Florida and Old Island Restoration Foundation runs the house. Admission is free of charge and donations are accepted for the repairs to maintain the home open. We do agree our docents are the best! Come back and visit... More

Well kept, get a glimpse of KW life in a time capsule, has a seating area, quiet and peaceful from the noise of Duval st. Accessible restroom.

We were doing the self guided walking tour and this was on it. Free entry, entry is through the back back. We found the cook house interesting as well as the construction and layout of the old house. There was a lady who greeted us and relayed the story of the house, and how in the seventies, a woman bought... More

You see a lot of sites on the hop on hop off tours. No real reason to get off to the tours. Just tick the box on the list of sites to see,
