Nice public beach, plenty of free parking, restaurant on site for food and drinks, dog friendly.
Bathhouse was under renovation when we went, but looks like it will be really nice once completed.

Beautiful quiet beach away from all the traffic downtown. Free parking. Great pier to walk on but doesn’t have railings so be careful.

While walking to the Key West Garden Club, we walked through Higgs Beach… It wasn’t bad, by Key West standards, as Key West really isn’t known for beaches in the first place, just popular for every other form of watersport. The beach has public restrooms, with no air conditioning, so they aren’t very comfy. There are homeless people hanging out here and it’s a little dirty and rundown looking.

Nice little beach to spend a few hours. The beach itself is small, but on KW this is expected. It was a short walk from the Old Key West Trolley Stop (#10.) Be aware, bring water & snacks if you have small kids. There are no places to buy those from. Also, the initial area in the ocean has a bunch of rocks, so your feet might be sore, although this can be avoided if you get in the water from the stairs on the pier. One other disappointment was that the adjacent playground was closed for renovations. The 4 y/o had a meltdown, but such is life!

Perfect shallow sandy beach. A fun volleyball court for teens and shallow water for littles. A great rental right there for chairs and umbrellas!

The facilities here are fine, with restrooms that include a changing stall and an outdoor shower area to rinse off. There is a playground area for the kids and free parking right along the beach area (drive west until you see the restrooms to park where you can enter the water). Make sure you have shoes you can wear into the water-the coral reef nearby means the sand, especially entering the water, is more like gravel and even once you pass the first few feet where most of the coral bits are, the ocean floor has ridges that someone with sensitive feet might find uncomfortable. The water temperature in February is cool, but not freezing. Overall, if you have beach shoes, you'll probably have a great time.

What a great beach! It is kinda narrow, some Atlantic Ocean beaches I have been to require a long walk from the parking lot, but not this one. The water is pretty shallow and the current is not strong so it is good for families. We arrived pretty early in the day and got four chaise lounges and two umbrellas and were very comfortable for the hours we were there. The pier is just for walking or going out to the water entry steps. By the time we left it was getting pretty crowded but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves- the weather was perfect for December 30th! The bathrooms were clean and well-kept. We enjoyed a meal at the restaurant and watched a beach volleyball match as well as the people passing by on the path. We had traveled to the beach via the Old Town Trolley from our motel and it was a block walk from one of the stops!

We stopped here when it was raining and walked out on both piers, our son played on the playground and in the sand. Nice, simple clean beach!
