We visited the park three times in the weekend that we were in Key West. Once, we just went for the sunset (admission was a little cheaper since we were there just at the end of the day). This is a lovely place to watch...More

The husband and I spent our last day at KW at Ft. Zachary. We knew KW wasn't really known for it's beaches, but still we wanted to spend a day on the water and not pay a fortune (i.e.fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, etc.). We did not...More

My husband and I spent 4 days on Key West and decided to visit the Fort. We had rented mopeds at Casa Marina and drove them up to the Fort. The view was a little disappointing and there wasn't a whole lot to see. If...More

Unfortunately we missed the guided tour (there is only 1 per day), however we did pick up the self guided pamphlet and walked around the fort on our own. The location is beautiful, offering great ocean vistas. The structure does not seem to be as...More

If you like history it is worth a visit. Not the easiest to get to but possible by private car or scooter and walking. The beach is nice. I saw some people snorkeling but doubt it was worth much. The fort has a lot of...More

Beautiful views of the ocean and surrounding areas. Walking through the fort was like walking back in time. Very interesting. Took several photos and even caught a ghost in one of them! The park staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Check out the parks beach...More

This is an interesting historic site, but you really need your imagination to allow to come alive. Some more interpretive displays or ranger led tours would be really nice here. As it is, the fort feels like a shell of what it was. It was...More

Love to go to Zachary Taylor! Great beach with lots of shaded picnic tables. If the weather is calm, good snokeling around the rocks. Food is pretty good at the little cafe. We even did the fort tour, which was interesting. It does get a...More

There's a lot more they could do with the fort, but I suppose no one wants to pay for it, which I understand. What there is is fascinating. I recommend taking an organized tour, the self-guided tour is pretty skimpy on facts and information. The...More

Yes, plenty of parking, but be aware there is an entrance fee, although fee is good for all day.

Did you walk to the fort from the cruise port? We are going in May and I was wondering what is the best way to get to the fort/beach from the cruise port. I will have my son and elderly mom with me. Neither will be able to walk it if it's too far. Thanks in advance.

We are here for a month so did not walk from the cruise dock. It is walkable from there but I might suggest in your situation to consider riding on the Trolley tour which does make a stop at the gate of the State Park. In... More

I have been to this fantastic park many times and especially enjoy sitting under the pines. One of the reviewers above said that they said to bring a " paddle board and snorkel the clear grass flats" Where are the clear grass flats at Zach Taylor. I've walked the beach and have yet to see that. Any answers?
