Talk about a history lesson worth learning! It's part of the state park (which has a fee to get into based on how you are traveling and how many are in your party). For my wife and I it was $7 total. The fort is a perfect way to see how this country defended its self from pre-civil war though... More

Fort Taylor was a nice change from the more "touristy" aspects of Key West. Fewer people stop here, though it is a very interesting piece of American history. We enjoyed touring the fort and reading all about its history. If you enjoy learning about American military history, this is not to be missed!

Nice beach- don't go w/ o water shoes! Typical Rocky shoreline of key west. Nice spot for lunch and you can rent chairs and umbrellas - shade areas w/ picnic tables. Can do some snokeling if the surf is calm.

Went to check out the beach for snorkeling and found a lot of rocks instead of sand. It was difficult to get into the water. We went around noon and left by 2:30. Only a few fish, 4 foot tarpon, and a barracuda. I guess we were hoping for a sandy beach with easy swimming access. As we were leaving... More

Well trained guides and good diving close enough for an easy bike ride. A "must see" for kids. Inexpensive and historic.

Went here for a day, picniced under the palms, snorkeled in the water and saw some pretty fish. Beautiful shells, walked along the beach and surrounding park.

The beach is a bit rocky, as is the bottom of the ocean, but the water is fairly clear and not full of seaweed as at the other beaches in Key West. The park is well maintained with picnic tables, showers, umbrella, lounge chair, snorkeling equipment, etc rentals at reasonable prices. The beach also has a little eatery with a... More

Don't often think about the role Forts played in the defense from Pirates! And certainly never realized that the Keys' Fort system sunk Nazi ships attempting to enter the gulf. Really neat to stroll and reflect. Although in the heat of day I kind of just wanted to be inside. Technically on the state park grounds you will have to... More
