Fort Zachary is a lovely park for strolling and relaxing. There are picnic tables, a snack bar and lounge chairs for rent. My only advice is that you bring water shoes--if you want a dip in that beautiful ocean. It's unbearably rocky!

One of the coolest experiences I've had. My favorite part of Key West. The fort was very interesting and I really enjoyed the tour. My kids were interested in the history of the place.

Visited Fort Zachary State Park to view the sunset as another tourist had told us about this spot being good to view the sunset. Such a nice park and friendly folks there as well. The view was just gorgeous with boats and the sun setting....More

We stumbled upon Ft Zachary while looking for somewhere other than Mallory Square to watch the Key West sunset. Jackpot!!! For a $7 car admission we had a waterfront unobstructed view of the sunset with very few people around. Magical and one of the best...More

We toured the fort, and agree, the fort not as good as others; little to no descriptions of the layout, or life at the time of occupation, Then we spent some time snorkeling. Yes, WEAR water shoes - ouch. Although the water was cloudy compared...More

Fort Zachary Taylor (FZT) is a poor second choice for those who haven't the time or cash to go out to Fort Jefferson. FZT is only partially accessible, with only a handful of displays. The once-amazing beachfront view from the ramparts has been nullified by...More

We took a short trip to view the fort. It was a little disappointing. It would have been better with a tour guide to explain everything, but I think we missed it for the day. The fort itself seems to be in need of some...More

This was an excellent free tour. The tour guide knew his stuff and really explained the history, the details, and even the physics of how some of the canons work. Nice beach to snorkel behind and there was not a lot of people. It is...More

Love history so FZT made sense to visit. Missed the guided tour so I got to play tour guide for the family by explaining how things worked like the cannon tracks. If you like history, it's a great place to spend a little time.

Be sure to stop here, nice beach with shade near by for the hot days. Able to swim or snorkel. Nice food stand. Fort was interesting. Friendly staff at the gate.

Sorry, can't help you, but I too enjoyed those lovely trees at Fort Zachery. I'm hoping that lots of places in the Keys come through with out great harm.

Yes lots of parking, but really filled up quickly on the Saturday we were there. A different perspective on the actual fort - you need to take a few minutes to explore the fort. Worth the time. Have fun!
