Interesting but mostly a view

The museum is nice and the only way to get a view from the tower. Get your ticket at the conch train and save $4.

The Shipwreck Museum tells the wrecking history of Key West in an easy and fun way. The building and the main "character", Asa Tift are brought to life in such a way that learning history is fun. Great place on a rainy day too. The tower that is part of the complex gives an amazing view of all of Key... More

The museum area is smaller than I expected, but if you stay and read all the displays it will take maybe 1-2 hours to go through. Take time to go to the top of the museum with a bird's eye view of downtown Key West.

I enjoy historical information and this outlines how salvage vessels were also rescue vessels for ships in trouble. Lots of artifacts, and an introduction from an actor who is supposed to be a quartermaster of goods recovered during rescues of people as well. You get to lift a huge bar of solid silver, which is kind of fun. They also... More

Thy tell you about the piracy, privateers, buccaneers and salvaging that happened in Key West. There are some displays and they have an observation tower. Nothing great but an okay way to kill some time.

Honestly this looked like a tourist trap but it was so fun. The tour guides had acting parts that looked cheesy at first but was effective and fun. A nice history of the Keys & some great artifacts.

Quirky little "show" with a self guided tour. Much to see but not much in the way of explanation about the contents. Wasn't a $15 tour in my opinion. More like a $7.50 tour. Then it was worth it. The tour guides did a great job kicking it off but ion the end we did the majority of the work.

If you have seen any of the specials on this guy and his family you would really enjoy the family photos and the history behind his long search for the treasure!

I expected it to be better. There are some interesting things in there, but it's not a very big museum with a lot of artifacts. It felt more touristy and less authentic.

I was a bit disappointed with this Museum. A 15 minute presentation and then they let you look around but not too much to see. Then you can go up to the lookout tower which has a nice view. Lastly there is a 14 minute movie. Takes less than an hour and I don't think its worth the admission price.
