That is how our guide for the snorkel trip described the water as we were about to jump in! Ha, perfect description! I might have added, takes a while to regain your breath! The water was beautiful, and the coral was very nice. Lots of...More

We stopped at this park on our drive from Marathon to Ft. Lauderdale, and it was a great stop. We loved watching the kayaks and the fish swimming around the reef. We enjoyed the aquarium and museum as well. We would love to return again...More

We booked a glass bottom boat ride at the park. The park itself is amazing with tons of things to do. A wonderful way to spend a day! The glass bottom boat ride was horrible, however. They overbook the trip so when you finally get...More

We do not overbook any tour boat at the Park. Our vessels are inspected by the US Coast Guard and certified for max passengers. In the case of the Glass Bottom Tour Boat it is certified for 149. We never exceed the legal passenger limit....More

We went on the 4 hour snorkeling boat and had a fantastic time. Bridget and Captain Brian were really great and made sure everyone had a good time. The reef snorkeling was amazing, better than the ones we took on cruises in the Caribbean. Bring...More

Seriously, watch out for jellies. I went snorkelling to the banana reef, and went to their "beach". Snorkelling was awesome, the staff was friendly and walkedbus through everything, they had tons of equipment available and underwater phone cases which I thought was cool, so you...More

If we have our own snorkel gear, can we just go out on our own from shore, or would we want to get on a boat to reach the reef?

We snorkelled from shore and swam out to the submerged wreck and saw a ton of fish sharks and rays. Boat snorkeling probably awesome! Molasses reef is gorgeous

A friend and I (55) are headed to Key Largo the end of February. How much does the Snorkeling Cost? Are you on your own? Do you rent the equipment? Is it better at State park? Are there Rangers that give history talks at the park?

there is a fee to enter the park. Boat tour, kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving require a separate fee. reservations are recommended but you can walk up and generally you can do what you want o the above noted activities.
