We just stopped because we saw a parking lot and we wanted to get a better look at some amazing dew-topped spiderwebs. But there was a short walk on a paved trail to a tower, which allowed us to observe a vast array of birds and gators across a gorgeous marsh. Saw roseate spoonbills, great blue herons, tri-colored herons, snowy egrets, anhingas sunning, and more, all at once!

Unspoiled beaches. Remote. Need to access via boat. You could kayak and camp as well. Lots of birds roseate spoonbills, split tail kites etc. Lots of shells.

This is where we go to play, and I could not imagine a better place!
There is plenty of room to find a private spot no matter when you go. Shells and treasures are plentiful and the fishing is wonderful.

On our way to Marco Island we stopped at Everglade City and did the 10,000 island boat tour. Tour was and hour and a half with 2 naturalists on board. Saw lots of birds, dolphins, manatee's and mangrove trees. Very relaxing and informative ride on a lovely sunny afternoon.

On your way to Marco stop off and see the 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge observation tower. It has parking for 20+ cars, no toilet facilities, between Miami and Marco Island, South of 41, you will see birds, gators, marshland.

Ten Thousand Islands NWR is located between Marco Island and Everglades City, Florida. The refuge is best accessed by boat. The two prominent boating access points are found in Goodland and Port-of-the-Islands. Take U.S. 41 south out of Naples and drive 12 miles to Hwy 92, turn right and drive 5 miles to Goodland, or continue on U.S. 41 for 5 miles to Port-of-the-Islands. The headquarters for the refuge is located at 12085 State Road 20 South, Immokalee, FL.

This boat trip takes one off shore and thus gives the opportunity to see dolphin and manatee in the open water as well as the some birds you might not see in other parts of the Everglades.

Stopped at the trail and it seemed a bit run down with empty cups and liter scattered about? The Marsh trail looks a tad overgrown.

This little gem is a fantastic place to view wildlife. It is only a short drive from Marco Island with plenty of parking and a very easy walking trail. We always spot good size gators and a numerous birds, including the beautiful roseate spoonbills.

If you like bird watching this is a must. The observation tower off 41, along the marsh trail is amazing. Just a short walk and you feel like you are a world away. Sunrise is beautiful, but bring bug spray. I went back later in the day, and it was still amazing...plus the gators and crocodiles where awake! Bring a camera and binoculars if you can.

We took a tour of the Ten Thousand Islands via Jet Ski! It was great to be out on the water and see Marco Island from that vantage point. My favorite parts of the tour were seeing dolphins in the bay, speeding full throttle across open water, and then careening into the narrows between islands where the mangroves almost touch. You get to swerve between these narrow water ways and feel like you are going to touch the trees on both sides. Very cool. We went with WowAdventures.com. Great tour guide! If you have back or neck issues, a jet ski is probably not for you b/c of the pounding over the waves.
