Delicious oranges
Mar 2021 • Family
While visiting Fort Pierce, we picked up a whole bunch of oranges to take home. Valencia, Unique, Temple and some grapefruit too. I’ve been making homemade OJ everyday since we got home with a mixture of all three oranges. I am now spoiled. I don’t know how I’ll go back to the regular store bought juice. I’ll definitely order some more oranges before the season ends.

Honeybells and Lunch
Feb 2020
In late February my wife and I stopped over for lunch and oranges.
We drove down from CT and our way back we bought a few bags of Honeybells and when we got home we started eating them, they did not last long they were delicious, very juicy and sweet. So today we purchased a 1/2 bushel online.

Thanks for your review! Honeybells are the most requested fruit we sell and also the most labor intensive to pick. Not only is every Honeybell picked by hand, but every stem is hand clipped as it has a delicate stem that would tear if it was just pulled off the tree. We hope you enjoyed every juicy bite and appreciate your feedback.

Great tour and citrus farm
Feb 2020 • Couples
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Al's Family Farm. They have an excellent selection of citrus that is delicious. You can sample the citrus and juice. The honeybell juice is the BEST! Sherry was a friendly and fun tour guide. You get to see the fruit from tree to packaged. We shipped citrus home. It is a great tour for all ages. It was a highlight of our week in the area.

Thanks for your great review! It was nice to have you on our citrus wash-line and packinghouse tour and we're very happy to hear it was a highlight of your trip. Yes, that Honeybell juice is yummy - and fresh squeezed right here at Al's. Glad you had a fun tour and hope you stop by whenever you are in the area.

Informative and Fun!
Feb 2020 • Friends
Our party really enjoyed our visit! We took the tour - it was informative and was worthwhile, in our opinion. We were able to taste varieties of fruit and learn about season availability as well as harvesting practices. The tour was family-friendly, as well. If you like milkshakes, don’t miss the Sunshine Shake - it was terrific!

Thanks for your review! We are happy you enjoyed your tour and found it to be worthwhile. We loved showing you how fruit is washed and inspected and appreciate that you mentioned it is a family friendly tour. Sounds like you really enjoyed our famous Sunshine Shake, made with our own fresh squeezed orange juice!

Not really a tour
Jan 2020 • Couples
This is a relatively inexpensive tour ($8.50 each) which is good because it’s more of a sales pitch than a “tour”. Al’s runs a packing house so their main business is shipping citrus fruit around the country. Although the tour guide Shari was excellent and provided some interesting information on the citrus industry in Florida, there’s just not that much to tour. The packing house is small and when the tour group arrived, the machines and employees suddenly begin working, as if our arrival signaled that it was time to “put on the show“. The actual tour part lasted maybe 15 minutes and allowed us to see how the oranges are categorized by size, then washed, but that was pretty much it. Very ho-hum and honestly, a little disappointing.

We are happy you found our 1 hour guided tour to be affordable. You are right, our vintage family owned packinghouse is small compared to big commercial packinghouses. Our staff is busy grading fruit, making fresh squeezed juice, boxes, trays and other tasks. As a courtesy to our guests, at tour time, we ring the bell and they stop doing their other jobs, and go outside so that our tour guests can watch us wash and inspect fruit. It would be more efficient for us if we did not stop working inside and suddenly begin working outside but most folks love to see the fruit being cleaned, and we do our best to provide that experience. Thanks for taking time to review us!

Reasonable entrance fee
Jan 2020
Tour was very well done. Guides were knowledgeable and showed us hospitality. We learned a lot about the citrus industry, some about the U.S, some about Florida, and specifically about the Indian River area. Their teaching method was very effective, and we were able to remember what we learned to pass it on to others. We saw the workers sorting the fruit and getting it ready to go to its next destination. We learned about the history of the company, and we met the current owner. He answered some questions from our group; then later we talked to him casually as he walked through the gift shop. It was interesting to learn about how the wood crates were previously used in picking and how they are being used now. We were treated to samples of orange juice and various kinds of citrus fruits. The tour was well worth the modest fee!

Thank you for your kind review! We had a fun time on the tour and appreciate you telling others about your visit. Jeff, the owner, tries to say "Hello" whenever he can and answer questions folks might have. We are so happy to hear that you felt the tour was worth your time and money, and hope you'll stop back and see us again whenever you're in the area.

Ohio family visit
Jan 2020
This is may be the only family orange farm that allows tours. It is family owned and we even met the owner. He spent quite a bit of time talking to our group. Every time we come to Florida I try to teach the kids it’s more than just vacation. This place was amazing. They were funny, informative, and hands-on. Thank you so much for squeezing our OHIO family in this morning. The kids loved it. The oranges and ice cream were top notch, not to mention lactose free so I could actually enjoy it, too. Thanks again! I Highly recommend to anyone.
