A lovely evening moonwalk through the Matanzas Pass Preserve. Lead by a knowledgeable guide, our small group saw the moon rise from a charming gazebo over the bay waters. Magical.

Mostly shaded raised deck paths through mangroves, lots of crabs and lizards, we didn’t see many birds. Covered seating on the bay st on end of trail. It’s pretty warm even in the shade until you get out of the trees.

Found this by killing time. Short walk with great results, There are trails here that lead to the bay. There is a lookout with seats and covered area. Lots of history if you do the interactive with your phone.

Decided last minute to stop, so glad we did, it was a nice little stroll. Would go again! The paths were easy to walk and interesting.

Although I love the beach here, the traffic and crowds can get a bit much at times. Enter Matanzas Pass. I went for a run in the early morning along the wooden boardwalks that stretch through the mangroves. Short but shady and cool place to...More

Just off of Estero Blvd. is a small nature trail which can provide a peaceful interlude to the normal hectic pace of this beach town. Both the trail and the small parking area are free. The trail meanders through the natural environment of Estero Island...More

We took a walk on a trail that was mostly boardwalk through the mangroves. It was kept in good condition and led all the way to the bay.

Have done all the trails twice and have not seen any animals except birds, little lizards, and one raccoon. Hope that helps.
