What a charming and fascinating car museum. It was all Packards from the turn of the 20th century to the 1950s. All of the cars are operable which makes it even more interesting. One of the most surprising collections was a huge displays of car cigarette lighters which is something that cars no longer have. The venue is a museum and a place that can be rented out for parties.

All I can say is wow!! This place is amazing. 34 perfectly restored Packards with all the specifics and back story for each one. Plus hundreds if not thousands of other articles. You'll run out of time long before you run out of things to see. This may be the best auto museum I've ever visited. A must see for car buffs . Actually a must see for everyone.

It felt like we were back in time! My husband probably loves cars more than me and truly, he enjoyed every minute of his time here. I took a lot of pictures of him with the cars. I also just want to mention how the cars are thoughtfully arranged for better viewing and how all of the staff are super friendly. Everything about this place is commendable.

Great place for Packard lovers! Great place for car lovers! I went with my dad and my 5 yr old son. Both were entertained and enchanted for hours.
The collection is immaculately curated. The 2x showrooms are elegant and clean and the cars tell their own story. Every detail recorded, with pictures too!
Just an excellent way to see some of the most beautiful cars of yesteryear.

This is not the place for a family. Staff were rude to children. My 6 year old was less than 6 feet from me when a staff member told him not to touch anything (which he wasn't) and to go stay by his parents. I realize this is a museum atmosphere but my child was not misbehaving and was mortified to be corrected by a stranger. I let the worker know my child would be by my side at all times but was still really disappointed. Another staff member was overheard telling another child that only he was the only one allowed to touch the cars. Rudest group of people I have ever been around.

This was great fun! The cars were wonderful, but the other collectibles made it worth the price alone. The guide was very enthusiastic and really loved the museum embellishing with many stories and trivia. We liked her so much, we hugged her when we left!
The antique bar was beautiful. There was so much to look at I will need to go back soon, and I am not even a car-lover.

This place is awesome and full of history. A true gem hidden in ft. Laud.
You are allowed to take pictures but you cannot use flash. Why? Because the flash will destroy the paint on the vehicles in time.
If you want to take a stroll back in time then come and visit this place.
Check out all the pictures I took

While on a pre-cruise stay in Ft. Lauderdale we chanced to visit this delightful museum. As far as car museums go, this one is a gem!
The museum is dedicated to the preservation of Packard automobiles and displays a fine collection of magnificent and often quite rare examples of this premium American luxury marque. One of the best things about the collection is that the vehicles are not museum queens, they all run and are taken out periodically to "stretch their legs", as it were.
The facility is not large and the vehicles often displayed too close together for my personal taste, but only found that distracting when attempting photos. A true Packard lover could spend hours upon hours touring the museum. A car or history buff could make an adequate tour in 45 mins. to an hour. We found a total of 35 vehicles on display.
At the time of our visit the original owner/collector (well into his 90s) was still able to be in his office at the museum and was a joy to visit with and share some car stories.
The walls, or various sections and small dedicated rooms, are filled with auto ephemera and other collections. The original collector is particularly proud of his FDR memorabilia.
If you are staying in one of the hotels near the cruise port, it would be an easy walk west on 17th, just past the hospital.

Seriously. The only “terrible” reviews posted here were posted by people who brought little kids when it’s clear this is not a kid friendly museum. Of course they don’t want your kids running around touching the cars. That’s the point of a car museum.
Great collection. For people old enough to appreciate it and wise enough not to bring their toddlers.

This museum is privately owned. The man who collected the Packards and other cars that are there and all of the various automotive paraphernalia must have been possessed. Is collections are extensive and eccentric. And the cars are beautiful and in wonderful condition. It's a small museum, but you can spend hours there, especially if you're really into cars. There are also movies about Packards, which you can spend literally hours watching. The people who run the museum or interesting and full of information. It really is a unique auto museum experience and I recommend it highly.

Is this museum on the sun trolley route???
Written 15 March 2018
Yes - It is on the Downtown Route. Google "Fort Lauderdale Sun Trolley Route" and find the map. It is about a minutes walk across from the road of the Broward Hospital - near SW17th St.

$10 cash per person - they do not accept checks or credit cards. You'll have to knock on the wooden door and wait-someone will come out to you. ABSOLUTELY worth every penny of it and then some!

What are the hours and how much does it cost?
Written 16 March 2015
I called them at 954-779-7300 and they are open Monday thru Saturday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. It is incorrect on their website.
The cost is usually less than $10 each; depends if you use one of the free coupons found in any of the attraction magazines in the area. You get $2 or $3 off each admission if you present that coupon bringing down your cost. I think I paid $7 or $8 each. Much of the literature showed the admission as a much higher cost.

I am concerned that the sofa bed in the guestroom of the the 2 bedroom villa might be too thin for a person who has a bad back. Do you have 2 bedroom villas that have 1 king plus a chase in the master's and 2 full beds in the guestroom like the Grand Vista?
