Hugh Taylor Park is a really nice place to walk, but even better to bike around. It has beaches, secluded places, picnic areas, and even one stretch where you bike by homes that abut the park. All in a all a nice way to spend a few hours. Something different than the beach for sure.

You cannot believe that you are in such a nature wonder although you are in Fort Lauderdale. We wanted to make the complete walk but were so sorry because of mosquitos. There is a lot to do: barbeque, a boat ride, bisycle, jogging learning a lot of different trees.. but sorry were not able to finish our walk. Must be... More

Near the beach and downtown, it has lots of areas to gather with groups, trails, waterside views and lots of space.

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is located across the street from the beach. However once inside the park, you'd never know it. They have quite a few hiking trails with abundant wildlife (iguanas, birds, gopher tortoises). They have areas to picnic, as well as fishing along the canal on the west side.

This park used to be the place to go when I was a child. Over the years and with some severe hurricanes, the park has struggled to stay a float. Where I still enjoy the park for a family function, the park has never come back to the place where everyone goes for the weekend. I would recommend this park... More
