This lighthouse is in a residential neighborhood, so there is not very good access there. We got our best view of the lighthouse from an overlook in Clinch State Park. It is very picturesque. Too bad the only ones to be able to enjoy it are the people who live next to it. I respect the right to privacy, but... More

This is a very pretty lighthouse. It is what you expect a lighthouse to be. It is visible from Fort Clinch State Park across the marshland. It is fairly tricky to find.

I don't know how long this will last but now, the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month, you can tour the Amelia Island Lighthouse grounds! You can't climb it but just being able to get up close is amazing! Admission is $5/adults and $3/child 12 & under. You have to purchase tickets at least 24 hours in advance by... More

The lighthouse was behind a locked gate and hard to see but it was a "must see" for this vacation. Too bad you cannot get a bit closer to view it.

Took us a little while to find but worth the effort. We weren't able to go inside but we did walk the grounds.

We saw the lighthouse while driving around an it happened to be a wednesday when the tour was going on. We found the place after driving around in some neighborhoods. Gate was open for the tour so we drove on in. Most if the tour was wearing bracelets to show they paid and were riding the bus. We got out... More

This is an original still operating light house circa 1838 that is located near Ft. Clinch State Park, a few blocks West of the Atlantic Ocean just North of Atlantic Avenue. Still operated by the U.S. Coast Guard at 215 O'Hagan Ln, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034, it is well "hidden" right in a residential neighborhood. This is worth the quick... More

You actually see it better in photos. A closed gate keeps you from getting near it and trees keep you from seeing it very well. You literally drive through a neighborhood to get to a gate that is locked and closed. I would just google it and look at the pictures, rather than driving to it.

This is a beautiful Lighthouse and worth the effort to find and photograph. However, most of the time it is not available to the public, and difficult to photograph, much less get close to.
