We were told this was the best place to find shark teeth. Several locals had handfuls but our eyes were not as quick as theirs as we found 4 after 2 hours of searching. Low tide and sunny skies help. Good family fun with picnic...More

Everything about Fort Clinch from the drift wood on the beach, to the grounds, to the fort itself is beautiful. History and Florida charm in one State Park. A Must do if on Amelia Island

$6 for the car and $2/person to walk in the pre-civil war site that ended up being a Union fort. For 170 years old it is in great shape. You can walk all over the fort and learn a ton. There seems to be camping,...More

We loved the fort and beautiful view into the coastal waterway. Getting a glimpse into how the soldiers lived during the civil war was really neat. Be sure to get a guide book when you go through if it's not on a weekend. There are...More

We go to every fort within 50 miles when we travel and this one is in the top 3! Buildings and fort area are mostly restored, some left alone to illustrate hoe they were found. Rooms have been furnished which is wonderful- one can visualized...More

If it's your first time in Fernandina Beach, it's almost a necessity to grab yourself a bicycle and hit the trail through the park. The surroundings are one of a kind and the trail is a lot of fun for the whole family

This is a great place to bike, camp, and hike. I've seen all kinds of wildlife. It's fabulous that such a large area on the ocean has remained undeveloped.

I'm sorry I didn't see the question sooner but I would say it is worth driving through. I enjoyed looking at the trees.

Is Amelia island worth a stop for a night on our way further south? What would be the most reasonable and most convenient place to stay?

We camped here at Fort Clinch state Park. I think it would be a great stop on your way down. If camping I would recommend the beach side loop. The Fort is a nice tour. And we really enjoyed eating and strolling around... More
