The mansion is only open Thursday through Friday, and this was the third time we tried to visit. This time we got smart and checked the website for the hours. Honestly, it was sort of a closure thing, and we weren't expecting a thing. Robert, the tour guide/State Park Officer was the best surprise. We have toured the country and... More

I saw the sign on I-75 and stopped after a visit to the outlet mall. There isn't much to see, but it's quiet and peaceful. A nice relaxing stop! Would be great for a picnic.

What a charming place. We arrived in the early afternoon of Sunday November 13th. We decided to take part in a docent guided tour . Our guide (an extremely smart gentleman) took us around the building whilst telling us about the Mansion's past occupants and it's colourful history. He answered many questions on all aspects of life at the plantation.... More

Billed as the only surviving sugar plantation and mansion in South Florida, it is a fascinating step into the past - at least I found it so. While it is free to enter and wander around ( and there are picnic tables available) there are guided tours available from Thursday through Monday and it is DEFINITELY worth the $6 per... More

If you are in the area and have an hour to spare it is certainly worth a visit. The guide was extremely interesting and it was certainly worth the $6 for the tour.

The plantation is not a large property but is worth a visit for a couple of hours mainly for the docent tours of the old house. The building construction has an interesting history and the family background provides added depth. Check out tour times before visiting as they cannot be joined mid way through and last almost an hour.

We enjoyed our tour of the Gamble Mansion. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the mansion and the history behind its building and the area.

The heart of the South plantation which had a rich history during the War Between the States. Don't miss the the ruins of the sugar mill a few blocks away.

I had a half day to be a tourist in Sarasota and this was my first stop. The tour with the ranger is well worth the $6 because you get a tour of the plantation house (only the tour gets inside), my mom and I had the ranger to ourselves for our tour and it lasted about 40 mintues. They've... More

We visited the Gamble plantation after looking for things to do on Trip Advisor. We visited the day after a tropical storm and were the only people on the tour. The tour guide gave a very interesting tour with a lot of history. There are furnishing from the historic period, but none that were originally in the plantation. This was... More
