Came with family who had see it featured on a local newscast. It was a very nice outdoor museum with a house, schoolhouse, general store and church among other things to go thru. You can tell by speaking to museum staff that they do take pride in their little museum and I think it is well worth the visit. The only thing I would say is the museum could benefit from more descriptive signage because often times interesting objects would just be there, with no accompanying description. Allot 2-3 hour to go thru, no restaurant on site but eating options are nearby.

Today we went to the Raising Cane, A Sweet and Spicy Event at the Pioneer Florida Museum & Village in Dade City. They were making sugar cane syrup and also had a Chili Cook Off. What a great place, which is focused on preserving Florida’s history. The museum and village is open on a regular schedule year round, but during special events they have volunteers in period costumes and lots of wonderful vendors. Admission is nominal. We had a great time,

Met a curator named Andy. He was such a pleasure...polite, personal, a wealth of knowledge & obviously passionate about the areas history. Made my visit far more enjoyable & informative.
The main museum if chock full of artifacts for any interest, tools, militaria, community live, farm life, the list go's on.
I love history & felt very fortunate to spend almost three hours wandering the different buildings. Well worth a visit

This is a hidden gem! For all of us transplants to Florida... this is where you need to go to learn Florida's history. Associate Curator, Andy Warrener, is knowledgeable, articulate, and passionate about history, especially Florida's history and happy to share his knowledge with guests to the museum. Allow yourself at least a couple of hours to listen, look, and learn.

I like museums that have brought in buildings from other parts of the country, or in this case, state that can reveal how the early settlers lived and worked. This museum is one of those, including an indoor museum with many displays and a very knowledgeable manager.

There are a school, a church, a home, a doctor/dentist's office as well as a train station with locomotive and more. Of interest is an exhibit devoted to Black American educator Moore Mickens and to the baseball player, "Mudcat" Grant.

This village is rich in history! There are 11 buildings, each with a story to tell about the past. It took us about 2 hours to visit the schoolhouse, church, general store, shoe repair, blacksmith, carpenter & the barn full of carriages, wagons and farm implements. Another building had textiles displayed with weaving & sewing. The main building which houses the museum has Indian displays, military displays (Civil War, WWI & WWII), old tools, pottery, dolls wearing the fashions of days gone by, and so much more. At the train depot we could interact with telegraph & telephone equipment. We climbed aboard the steam engine and rang the bell. So much Florida history in one place and well worth the trip off the beaten path.

We really enjoyed our visit to this historical location. It offers a wonderful view of what life was like in Florida back in the 1800s. We were the only visitors there on a Monday morning and it was so fun to wander around the many buildings and lanes. I believe there are four houses, a church, school house, general store, barn, depot with RR tracks and a workshop. Some of the buildings are original and were moved to this location. Other buildings are reconstructions. The houses are usually built with a breezeway that connects rooms and offers delightful breezes. There are plenty of markers with photos and information about the people who lived and worked in these buildings. The cost was $8 each and I was glad to pay that to help keep this wonderful place available for people to learn about this interesting history.

My husband and I went to this village museum and it was a great experience. We were the only ones there and had the place to ourselves. It was so interesting to see how the Florida pioneers lived in the 19th century. Each building had many artifacts and it was fun to go see what was displayed. I especially liked the schoolhouse and church. I think this museum would be also great for children and school groups. There are also many events which go on throughout the year.

A gem of a museum. An absolute treasure trove of Florida historic artifacts. I loved the dolls, dishes and the yellow house to name a few. We spent several hours browsing the market y displays and buildings. There are a number of special events held here each year

A bit disappointed. We drove from New Port Richey to see the museum. It was raining at the time, I checked the website and it said they were opened. When we got there the girl behind the counter basically said she hadn't opened up any of the buildings because it was raining. We told her we drove a good distance to see it but she didn't seem to want to do anything. We were hoping even to be offered to look at the building we were in, but no such invitation. One question: are you open or not? Why not just close and put it on the website so we don't waste a trip. Don't know if we'll be back or not, would have loved to see it or even a portion of it. BTW, the rain cleared out in about an hour....
