Half-Day Lake Okeechobee Fishing Trip near Fort Myers

1 review
Go fishing on Lake Okeechobee, Florida's biggest freshwater lake, on a private fishing tour that departs from Clewiston, about 60 miles (100 km) east of Fort Meyers. With a private guide, you can receive tips and try your luck at catching the lake's largemouth bass. Please note, you must purchase your own Florida fishing license before the tour.

This is a drive and walk place. The main roads are graded and packed with a number of lesser side roads which are traversable by passenger car at this time of year. There is a Ranger station a little ways with an exterior rest room. There are no other facilities. We saw birds, alligators. otters, and assorted varieties of flora. Definitely a place that you could go back to and see someting different every time. There is no charge for entry.

I sought out this wildlife area after admiring photos from fellow wildlife photographers. Upon arriving I was immediately struck by the number of songbirds. It was a delight to listen to the meadowlarks and other species. The roads are well maintained. Take a picture of the road map at the hunter check in station; I have not found an online or printed version. The "loop" did not appear to be open. I hit several dead ends as I explored, but that was just fine. Allow several hours to explore the various habitats.

This is an amazing nature spot. Great place to see florida wildlife in its natural state. So many gators you can't even count them all. The cows are a nice treat since you can drive right up to them. My toddler loved it. Just a pretty place to spend the day.

Hidden gem out in the middle of nowhere. Tons of wildlife. It is a nature photographer's dream. While it is a working cattle ranch, it is a wildlife management area and hunting is allowed. I've never encountered any issue with the hunting while out photographing. You can drive the loop or get out and hike, just be mindful of the gates so the cattle don't escape.
