Ruth Eckerd Hall's near perfect acoustics have received rave reviews from artists, technicians and audience members since opening in 1983. Combined with state of the art equipment, comfortable amenities and world class entertainment, it's no wonder that it has been recognized as one of Tampa Bay's best concert halls numerous times as well as a finalist for Pollstar's Theater of the Year twice. In 2003, the Hall's audience chamber received a complete refurbishment, its 2,180 seats were reconfigured to accommodate more patrons with disabilities, and lobby and restrooms were expanded.Ruth Eckerd Hall has continental-style seating. Almost every patron prizes a center seat and continental-style provides the maximum possible. There are no support columns, no obstructed views. Seating is sloped and staggered. For safety and comfort, the aisle space is wider than traditional layouts; entry and exit can be made while patrons remain seated. There are 14 sets of double doors leading out from the audience chamber. With this configuration, a full house can be cleared in a matter of minutes.Among the original community leaders who conceptualized building a performing arts center this side of Tampa Bay, was Jack Eckerd. During construction, Mr. Eckerd designated a significant contribution as a birthday gift to his beloved wife, Ruth, making the dream a reality. The Hall proudly bears her name.

Not sure if the bad sound was the band’s sound people or the venue’s, but sitting midway Center (which should have been great seats for sound) were awful. It was too loud and a bit muffled. The pre-show dinner was terrible. We had done one...More

They advertised a concert as having the Rock Symphony. It didn't. Very disappointed. Not sure if this is a problem normally or a one time mistake but be warned.

Visited last evening for the Pops holiday concert. Acoustics wonderful and design is similar to the purple cow, Van Wezel, in Sarasota. Ample restrooms and seating is comfortable with cup holders attached to back of seat in front of you for convenience. Decent concessions although...More

This is an excellent size venue to se musical performances. We just saw Donald Fagen and thought it was perfect. The sound was very good and our seats in row M had very good views. Valet parking made it easy to arrive and depart. Everything...More

This is a nice venue for a concert, every seat has a great view and the place is very clean. The sound acoustics are very good. Parking is free and not hard to find.

The space is excellent, the acoustics wondrous, and the proximity to residential an added bonus. What sometimes detracts from the experience is the constricting nature of the parking. However, when this minor annoyance is compared to other venues in this metro area AND in other...More

I think business casual is always nice for a public show. but for Elvis, you should rent an Elvis costume, for sure.
