About
We are the only quilt museum in the State of Florida. We have a variety of items in the Museum including a collection of quilts by Sieglinde Schoen Smith who won Best of Show in the 2006 International Quilt Show in Houston. We are open Tuesday thru Saturday from 10 AM till 3 PM. RV's are welcome. We are staffed by volunteers who are quilters and long time area residents.

Off the beaten path, this place is not like a traditional museum. It is more like a quilt store with displays of antique and modern quilts and antique sewing machines. There is no fee to enter but donations are appreciated. The volunteer on duty was very friendly and showed us some very beautiful, unique prize winning quilts made by a German woman that are amazing. These were donated by the family. Other quilts hanging are interesting to look at. There is material for sale, handmade gift items, sewing aides, aprons, patterns, etc. If you love quilts and sewing this is worth a stop.

If you love quilts, this is a must see stop. They have some of the most beautiful prize ribbon quilts that I have ever seen. They also sell hand made quilts, pocket books, aprons done by local quilt artists. They also stock quilt fabrics and notions and have quilting classes. Free admittance. Just lovely quilts to look at done by some amazing artists.

Unique piece of history, these are avid quilters who are willing to share their skill and knowledge with others. If you are not ready to begin your own, there is a good selection of quits, baby quilts, doggie quilts, aprons, mitts, etc. to purchase. There are several vintage, antique quilts hung up for your viewing pleasure.

Don't forget to sign their book that you've visited, they love to know where your from! Don't hesitate to stop and pop in, you won't be disappointed.

We had been staying at Cedar Key for a Vacation & would do day Excursions from there. We were doing a day trip wanted to go to Old Florida as the other day we just had run out of time. So we tried for it again but this time a severe storm block our path & made us turn back South again back towards Cedar Key. We were on the Main Road back saw a Sign saying to Head west for "The Quilt Museum". My MIL made many Quilts in her day. So between Seasonal Changes,I alternate a few of hers on our Bed & we Hang several in our front foyer as well. I suggested to Hubby,we have plenty of time lets go! At first he says No. However, I convinced him. I think it made him happy. Its too bad, it's in a Bad Location! Its off a Beaten Path! We made it in before the Storm,as came followed Us, & the last 3omins prior to the Closing for the day! Only 2 nice older Ladies behind a Counter there. Both Knowledgeable,Hubby talked of his Mother doing Quilting her types stitchery, patterns & the like, while we roamed the place. Hubby enjoyed it while I looked thru there, I actually saw some beautiful Homemade Usable things to buy as well Oh & they had tags w/the person's names on them! Apparently when they get bought-everything is written up there-no registers, the person's name is too so I guess the purchase must be credited? I couldn't make up my mind what Our Cat Sitter-Neighbor-Friend would she like & use the most? Hubby helped me as we looked at all The Beautiful Quilts hanging up on the walls see if any were like his Mom's. If you appreciate Quilts, & homemade beautiful things, its a place to go to, Even if you don't it might be something you might buy something there to Use as well like I did for Both myself & Our Cat-Sitter Friend!

This place is long in the tooth and no worth going out of your way for...which is sad, because I'm sure that people have put some time into making it what it is. But most of the quilting on display is substandard and tacky. Lots of junk for sale.

Our husbands didn't think they would enjoy this part of our planned day but they found plenty things of interest from the antiques to the immense display of quilts. There are plenty of handmade items to buy and a donation upon leaving would be very helpful for them.

Love the old-style Cracker house with the wrap-around porch. Many examples of vintage as well as newer quilts. Very hospitable ladies, with a great southern lunch on Thursdays. Loved it. Mary in Citry County

This is a lovely little quilt shop in "old Florida". It's nothing fancy, but the big wraparound porch is very quaint. Many of the quilts are old and give you a look back in time of quilt making. Definitely a wonderful place for quilt buffs or enthusiasts. The staff reflects the Southern hospitality that is so predominant in this part of Florida. Quite a relaxing way to spend a few hours.

This is one of best museums in country for quilts. The ladies that run it are fantastic. The also sell items. You can actually see them sometimes making them.
