Near Carrabelle, FL in the Panhandle on the Emerald or Forgotten Coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Nothing real outstanding about it but we are on a quest to find as many lighthouses as we can! This is located on the inland side of the...More

Want to learn more about this region? Stop by this historic lighthouse. Small but interesting museum. Climb the lighthouse just for the fun of it.

We didn't go in to the lighthouse or the associated building, but the lighthouse is easy to get to, right off the main road. It's a little different and the sign said you could climb it, but not sure about the hours.

Over 100 steps to the top but worth the view! Only one set of folks at a time, the stairway is narrow so you cannot pass folks going up or down. You can see the ocean and inland for miles. Beautiful on a clear day.

We just went by and decided to go back and take a few pictures. Realized that there were people up in the lighthouse, and so inquired. Hubby does not enjoy heights, but I like views from lighthouses, so he passed on it, and I went...More

The tower is open only certain days, at a minimal cost. Check the days should you wish to climb to the top. There are some picnic tables and children's play equipment.

We enjoyed climbing the Crooked River Lighthouse in Carrabelle, Florida. The history is fascinating and the climb in the enclosed "tubular" center structure was different than any lighthouse climb we've done in the past. It was hard to imagine a lighthouse keeper lugging jugs of...More

Didn't even know this was in the area; just went for a walk and found it. There are roadside signs, but not attention getters by a long stretch. Great little museum of sorts at the site with interesting displays and artifacts.

The Crooked River Lighthouse,1 of 4 lighthouses on the Panhandle Lighthouse tour, was our 2nd lighthouse tour. While the climb to the top ($5) yielded spectacular views, we found the museum/gift shop to be much more interesting. The curators did a great job depicting the...More
