If you are interested in the history of Cape Coral this is a good place to learn. The center offers a tour and video which gives a very concise overview of how Cape Coral came to be. It is free, donation is very appreciated, and takes about an hour or so.

Personal tour guide was very knowledgeable about the Cape Coral area. Learned that Cape Coral is celebrating it's 50 anniversary. That makes it a very young town. Then to learn that Mastodons lived here at one time. Very rich history indeed!
A wonderful place to learn more about the area.

We had plans to visit family in the area and were looking for something to do the day before when we arrived in the Cape Coral area. My hubby and I saw this recommended on Trip Advisor so we thought we try it. Hope, our docent was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history of the city. The story of Cape Coral’s founding would make a great movie. I would highly suggest stopping in if you have an hour or two of free time.

Cape Coral is a very unique city and the museum does a good job chronicling the history and development of the area. Expect to be delighted by the displays but be forewarned of the limited operating days and hours, call ahead.

If you are visiting Cape Coral please make a point of visiting this museum. It is tended by a wonderful Curator and her team of dedicated volunteers who have worked so hard to provide not only fascinating historical information about the origins of Cape Coral itself but also about the area. There are additional displays of military memorabilia, Indian artifacts etc etc housed in three separate buildings. There is a museum gift shop with items of local interest including the burrowing owl. Did you know that Cape Coral is the burrowing owl capital of the world. Monthly speakers local to the area provide wonderful insight and there are regular bus tours to points of historical interest all over South Florida. Hours of operation are Wed, Thurs, Sun 1pm - 4pm. www.capecoralhistoricalmuseum.org

A hidden gem in Cape Coral! Incredibly interesting albeit short history, great presentation of the 50 year history of the city. Centrally located in Cape Coral, a few hours are well spent here.
