- Cynthia WFreeland, Michigan814 contributionsGPS Coord, N 26,60830 W 081.91719 Kayak rental and family walking path.A board walk through thick mangos, goes out to the water with two piers you can fish off of our just view the causeway and water. Didn't see any wildlife. There is a building called the visitor center that has 2 flush toilets. There are a few statues and memorials to previous wars. Around the corner - down the road is the Kayak rental area is on a channel. The board walk is about 1-2 miles long. I won't be going here again, I was hoping there would be birds here. We saw none.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 February 2024
- Ward DSatellite Beach, Florida3,533 contributionsA lovely park near the west side of the Midpoint bridgeThe Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve, at 365 acres, is the second-largest preserved green space in Cape Coral. It is located just north of Veteran's Parkway. It does not have access directly off the Veterans Memorial Parkway. You can get to it by driving to Del Prado and then backtracking to the Memorials. There seems to be a fair amount of parking along the entrance road. The Four Mile Cove / “Eco Park” is a brackish water wetland area with a walking trail, visitor center, and Veterans Memorial Area. On the south side of the parking lot is the Veterans Memorial Area, which includes several memorials designed to recognize and honor those who have served our country through the U.S. armed services. Visitors can walk through the preserve on a nice boardwalk. The trails lead to a fishing pier and another place onto the river. Their website states, “ This is a nature preserve; therefore, dogs are prohibited on the trails, jogging, skateboarding, biking, skating, or rollerblading. The walking trails and access to the Veterans Memorial Area are available year-round.” Overall, it is a very nice place to enjoy the local greenery along a pleasant covered boardwalk trail through the wetlands.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 April 2024
- julielpBloomington, Minnesota459 contributionsPeaceful and easy walk.Nice nice walk! It’s not a long walk 1 .5 - 2 miles. The first half is mostly shaded and the path is wooden. It takes you out to a big dock with great scenery. The continuing path has more sun, so in the heat, go back the way you came. We started on the left side of the parking lot. In the same lot are the military memorials. A replica of Iwa Jima, pow memorial, each branch of the military memorial, and others. For me it was an added bonus.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 24 May 2024
- Rachel JDelavan, Wisconsin85 contributionsNice walking path, but sparse wildlifeNice walking trail, but did not see much for wildlife (one raccoon and a few birds flying overhead). The Veteran’s Memorial area was beautiful. I recommend going to the visitor center first, we entered the walking path at the end and felt a little lost.Visited December 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 December 2024

We stayed just minutes away and enjoyed coming back at different times and in different weather to walk along the boardwalks through the mangrove swamp marveling at the wildlife that seemed to change each time. Even in the heat, much of the boardwalk trails were cool with the shade and occasional breeze. Very few other visitors each time so it felt quiet and peaceful strolling through and watching for birds, lizards, fish, insects, and crabs going about their lives in their home. Would love to come back and kayak about the preserve as well.

When I first moved go Cape my daughter was looking up trails to walk and she found this one. It is a nice little walk. The trees cover all around you making it look even better. It is not very long at the end is a little sitting area by the water

We come to walk here quite often, and it is a great place to walk. We walk the entire walkway, but when we get to the big dock, we walk back on the boardwalk. It is shady and thus cooler for a later morning walk. This is not a dog-walk, nor a jogging place, and no bicycles are allowed. One of the best walking paths in this city!

This is a boardwalk through a mangrove swamp. There are 2 spurs that go out to the water. Total length if you walk to the end of both spurs is 1.7 miles. If you just do the loop without the spurs it is 1.2 miles. It smells like rotting vegetation and fish the whole way. We expected more walking. If you want a view of the water, there are plenty of piers and parks with equal or better views.

Had a wonderful walk through the preserve on boardwalks. Some ended at the water edge allowing beautiful views. All 4 miles of the trails were not open due to remaining damage from the hurricanes. Had a wonderful time with the family and hope all trails are open when we return again.

Cape Coral has a jewel that is covered with mud! Kayak rental. Racks of kayaks and what used-to-be a unique, one of a kind paddle trail. However, this trail has fallen from serious neglect for a couple of years now. It is totally overgrown with vegetation that blocks the trail from beginning to end. You could, a few years ago, rent a kayak and carry it across the narrow street and launch it. Then paddle all the way to the Caloosahatchee River with one easy portage. A beautiful, quiet wilderness experience in the heart of a busy city. Impossible to do now. Why has the City neglected this trail for so long? The Park Department slogan is, "It starts in the parks". Well, how about starting here? And please don't blame it on the hurricanes. It has been bad well before the recent storms.

Nice boardwalk in the cool of the mangrove trees with a couple of water view piers. I especially enjoyed the military memorials. I thought I’d get my miles in but the trail itself is not 4 miles. I clocked in about 1.7.

A quiet little park with a ~2mile boardwalk. Bordered on one side by Caloosahatchee River and undeveloped except for the boardwalk. Lots of wildlife, just a peaceful way to spend a hour or so.

Nice shaded walkway. Nice for an early morning summer walk. We only walked part of the trails on our visit. Plan to go back and do some more another time. Walkways were well taken care of and we saw lots of wildlife.

We drove out here and took the short hike through the area. Nice, walking through the mangroves. Easy walk about a mile or so. The parking area has the statue replica of the marines raising the flag at Iwo Jima.

During our walk, we noticed three pagoda type constructions with handrails standing alone in the cove. No way to reach them other than by boat. The purpose????? For animals or people?

kayaks or canoes. Paddle out and have a picnic!
Written 16 January 2018
cannot bring a dog - its a wooden boardwalk and can get busy if a lot of people are walking that day
