It's a small but pretty park. They have a small museum dedicated to the battle that happened there. You can watch a short film , I suggest you do if you are interested in the historical aspect of the park. They also have a short nature trail about 1/2 a mile. It was worth the trip we brought food and... More

While the park isn't big, only 80 acres, it is a gem. The volunteers are super friendly and know their stuff. We came to the Intertribal Powwow, and visited the museum. There is an informative short film about the battle that occurred here in 1835. Seminole warriors attacked and killed 105 U.S. troops. Pretty spot with picnic tables and nature... More

For the significance of this site, a battle in 1835 where the Seminoles overwhelmed 103 US soldiers and initiated a long war for their homeland that resulted in the ethnic cleansing of Florida, the museum and surrounding grounds have not received adequate funding or support. Interpretation was outdated and the battle site itself was outlined with three logs. It's a... More

Very peaceful park with a lot of history that, as a Florida native, I was unaware of. Great park to take a nice, shady walk.

What a wonderful state park this is! It will truly transport you back into history to the day when the Seminoles ambushed Major Dade's soldiers on that cold morning in December 1835. We spent about 2 hours in the museum alone and encourage you to watch the short video detailing the events of that fateful day via reenactment of the... More

A place for history buffs to learn more about the early days of Florida. Lovely, peaceful environment with good facilities (benches, restrooms) and tourist information.

Stopped in on a Saturday morn and had the park to myself. $2 to get in if you're on a bike, $3 per vehicle. Money goes in an envelope on the honor system so you need exact amount. Went to the visitor center first. There they have a 15 minute film on the history of the park and you can... More

Major Francis L. Dade, for whom the County and battlefield are named, was an early causality of the the battle that led to the 2nd of 3 Seminole wars. It appears that after the War of 1812, General Andrew Jackson was ordered to remove the Seminole Indians from Florida to Oklahoma. Evidently, he was quite brutal in his efforts. When... More
