We tent camped Easter weekend and it was great! Though initially shocked by the extremely small & narrow campgrounds, we were fortunate to book a site (#1) large enough for all our stuff (2 tents + food screen tent). I was also scared silly by...More

This campgroung is so far off the beaten path. The only attraction is the house and it was closed the day we went. There were so many mosquitos we couldn't step outside. Needed to get dinner and had to drive 25 minutes to the next...More

The park is about 50 minutes outside of Tallahassee with some of the most challenging hiking trails (for me anyway) in Florida. The campgrounds are more suited to rv camping than tents. There is no seperation between camp sites, except for a few scrubs. You...More

This campground build in the 1930’s by the CCC, although dated facilities, was clean and beautiful sites. The historical Gregory House was an easy hike and a wonderful guided tour. Super hiking trails with a great hiking map.

The views aren't spectacular or anything. You are mostly weaving up and down the forest. However, it is very relaxing. Definitely a workout if you book it through the trails (uphill areas). I'd suggest going off path to get a good look at the water,...More

This is a place you plan to go to. It is WAY out of the way. We drove to see the historic Gregory house which is part of the park. We arrived at 2:50p.m.The tour was scheduled for 4:00p.m. The attendant/docent said we were the...More

I dragged my husband here, because I wanted to show him a different "look" for Florida. The high banks over the river is very unusual. The view is great. There were hiking trails that we would have done more with, except we were a bit...More

This is a rustic little campground that is quite out of way. Makes for a lovely, quiet campground and worth the extra effort to get here. Located on top of an impressive ridge, the ground drops away on all sides yielding a spectacular view from...More

We spent two nights in a Yurt in the Torreya State Park campground over Christmas. The campground is in a nice setting at elevation (for Florida) so it had nice views. We hiked the 7 mi. Torreya trail and loved the diversity/variety of the hike....More

We camped at Torreya for New Year's weekend. It was a great campground. We stayed at site 17. It is one of the biggest sites on the bluff. There was rain and wind one of our nights, and the wind is blustery up the bluff....More

I don't know for sure, but I think they're open, the Florida State Parks are big supporters of First Day Hikes. They also have to have some staff there to take care of the campers! I would call them tomorrow and ask.

Yes fishing is allowed. there are a few trails that lead down to the Apalachicola River. The shortest route would be to go down the trail at the Gregory House. it is around a 1/4 mile down the hill to the water. The Rock... More
