My husband and I have been touring all of the mansions in Delaware. We were pleasantly surprised with the family home of Joseph Shipley. The estate has a gothic English design. The Rockwood Museum is now state owned. The state is still in the process...More

This DuPont estate has an interesting history and is a period piece of the turn of the 20th century. It is admirable that the local county took over the property and managed to keep it as a museum for the public, and they should be...More

We went to Rockwood for the Shakespeare Festival. It was the most wonderful evening! we toured the mansion, took a picnic dinner and watched Shakespeare live under the stars. It is a beautifully maintained park and just a hidden gem.

Mostly heard about the Du Pont mansions and gardens, but Rockwood is a gem in its own right. Guides were knowledgeable and approachable . We were lucky to have them to ourselves. Paranormal events recorded by Ghost Hunters and Ghost Finders gave good marketing. Beautifully...More

Spent a day here doing photo shots. Overwhelmed with all the secret beauty of the flowers, houses, pathways. It was like I'd entered another world; you know, when you take a wrong turn and see the "light fantastic." Here I was in Rockwood Garden and...More

Rockwood Museum is a good example of how affluent people lived in in the early 1900's. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. We didn't walk the grounds due to rain but they looked lovely. I would go back just to walk in the...More

Aside from touring the museum, Rockwood Park is a great place to walk. Lots of shaded area and peaceful. A good place for a walking meditation.

You don't have to pay to drive into or walk or run the grounds. I believe it's a mile just around the property. You can choose to walk where there are inclines or where it's flat. You're welcome to walk your dog, but it... More
