Did the sunset paddle out of the Preserve with EcoBay. Walked through a good part of preserve to get to the water. Looked like some nice trails. Saw a number of people walking dogs there and would like to go back to explore more.

Very hot on the trails mid day, go early or late to avoid the heat. take some bug juice. whatever it is a pleasant trip thru the trails and the reward of uncrowded sandy beaches is a plus at the end of the trail.

Great little place, 10 minute walk from parking through wooded area. Only 5-10 minute drive from heart of Bethany. Good for young children up to teens and adults. Shallow drop off, can walk out a long way. Great view of bridge, could be nice place to visit in early evening. Can bring chairs towels etc. great free place to visit... More

This a an amazing off season place to walk the woodsy trails and enjoy wildlife. Bring a spotting scope, binoculars or a camera for photo opportunities. If you visit in the warmer months be sure to have bug repellent and check for ticks at the end of your stay. The best places in the preserve are the viewing stands located at... More

We visited the James Farm Preserve because it was recommended by other reviewers and it was just as lovely as they said. It is a short, easy walk with well maintained paths and great views. The photos we took do not due it justice but I offer them anyway since "a picture is worth 1,000 (of my) words." Enjoy!

We went to check it out since our daughter was coming to visit with her dog and there are few places to take your dog during peak season. Not only can you bring your dog to James Farm there is a beach for dogs and they can enter the water from that site. It is family friendly and a good... More

Beautiful natural preserve for wildlife. Love that someone gave their land as this lasting gift for future generations. Second visit. Nice woodland trails that can lead to the river. First visit was summer and got to see different species of crabs, snails, fish and birds. Nesting platforms made for Osprey birds. Next visit was windy and rough water. High tide.... More

Visited the James Farm on a sunny, hot September day. Took the red Boardwalk trail about 6 minutes from the parking lot through a well marked stand of trees which opened out onto the beautiful bay. The sandy beach isn't too wide but it was just right for the 10 or so folks who were here. The bay water was... More

A wonderful escape through the woods and onto the bay. A delightful walk... Bring your bug spray, a thermos of something cool to drink and watch out for the thoughtless dog owners who think it's ok for their animals to run free and frighten children. And they're the same ones who wonder why the wild life is threatened. Jeesh, do... More

Took a kayaking tour from this location and had a great time. There is a bit of a walk from the very small parking lot to the waterfront. The beach area was small but quiet.
