The Children's Museum in West Hartford, Connecticut offers hands-on fun with science and nature for younger children and families, school and community groups, and home schooled children. At the Museum and in classrooms throughout Connecticut, we encourage children to become creative thinkers and lifelong learners. Children engage in our interactive labs, workshops, multi-sensory exhibits and demonstrations, a live wildlife sanctuary, state-of-the art digital science dome planetarium shows and movies, vacation camps, sleepovers, birthday parties, scout activities, and special events. Our unique Children's Museum Preschool, co-located on our West Hartford campus, integrates science experiences into early childhood learning. Nearby Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton offers environmental exhibits, nature programs, concerts and acres of outdoor hiking, bird watching, and winter cross-country skiing.

We took our children here years ago, but when it came to our grandchildren, the admission fees seemed very high especially compared with other area attractions.

This museum is one of our family favorites. We live near West Hartford so every school break or chance we get, we go to this museum. The animals showcased here are very cute and there are plenty of reptiles to see as well. We especially love the feeding time and when someone comes out to let you see and sometimes... More

My grandaughter (3years old) was visiting . And we were looking for things to do. This was suggested by a friend of mine . First thing I have to say is , she is shy and a bit timid . So was instantly afraid of the whale outside . Inside she wasn't at all sure . However I was willing... More

This place is nice but nothing special, which is too bad since it's in a nice area. Geared for young children.

The museum is working hard to stay current, with exhibits changing regularly. The permanent exhibits are entertaining as well, and the live animals are the highlights. It is a wonderful place to spend a few hours with the kids.

We stopped here to give our five year old grandson a break from traveling. It was the best thing we could have done. there are so many hands on exhibits from building a lego car to race, constructing a dam and make a child size log cabin and so much more. He got to pet a large snake, experience having... More

We were traveling through Connecticut and decided to visit this museum to let our little ones "get their wiggles" out on a long road trip. We were granted admission on the ASTC reciprocal membership. Within 10 minutes of entering we were highly disappointed. The museum didn't even feel like a museum. It was dark, uninviting, the layout was poor and... More

My kids found is sort of boring, it has some animals so is it a Zoo or a museum. It does not have a specific identity. The science and technology portion was way to babish and the Planeterium was really not interesting. Its an average experience.
