Farmer Joe is the fourth generation farmer of the DeFrancesco family of Northford, CT. He and his wife, Ida, pride themselves in the wonderful plants and produce grown by the family and sold at their farm store. As they raise their family, they feel it is their responsibility to utilize good and safe farming practices. Their methods grow and work keeping the environment in harmony while producing healthy, delicious, nutrient dense, and diverse plants and produce.

Integrated Pest Management or I.P.M. Is part of our sustainable agriculture farming practices. I.P.M. Means we watch our greenhouses and field crops, scouting diligently for potentially harmful pests. When a pest has reached harmful levels, Farmer Joe determines the safest method for removal. Some of the controls Farmer Joe uses are: manually picking off insects, utilization of predator insect, us of natural and organic sprays. Crop rotation is also utilized throughout our fields to improve soil health and decrease pest risks. Farmer Joe uses no GMOs.

Farmer Joe's Gardens is located on family land that has been a chicken farm, geese farm, turkey farm, and apple orchard. The land is now growing vegetables and plants to continue the tradition. Farming remains a cornerstone in Wallingford, Connecticut, and our family intends to be part of it long into the future.

Connecticut farms are thriving and growing in new and exciting ways. Our small family farm produces garden plants and a bounty of healthy, fresh food available in our farm store located at 109 Leigus Road, Wallingford, Connecticut.

This is a very small farm so a lot of their products come from other local farms. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We like the dill pickles that get from someone else that cans it. I can't remember now if they use their pickles that someone else cans. I'll have to wait until summer to find out. I... More

Farmer Joe's Garden is the best thing that happened to Wallingford. Their fruit and veggies are always fresh and delicious. They also carry the best plants and the prices are very reasonable. Great place to pick up fresh veggies on the way home for dinner. The owner's and their staff are wonderful people.

A must see at this location is the fairy garden. Wonderful. This is not a big business but is big in friendliness and helpfulness. There are many local products to choose from. I believe it is a must see in Wallingford.

I visit Farmer Joe's every week during the harvest season. They have a massive variety of wonderful vegetables, fruits, delicious local milk, cheese, yogurt, and eggs, as well as local pasture raised beef and pork. They also have farm baked sweet breads and cookies. Farmer Joe's also sells vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings, as well as full size hanging planters.... More

Farmer Joe's is a great local farm stand that offers much more than just fruits & veggies. I originally stopped there just for corn, until I saw all they had to offer. Preserves, local eggs, meat & chicken, raw milk, honey & much more!

Stopped to check it out. Now it is a favorite spot. Very pleasant and helpful personnel. The range of local products surprised me. Honey from their own bee hives, organic milk (pasteurized) from a local dairy (delicious!),and organic/free-range eggs from a local farmer. They also have variety of home-canned goods like pickled whole beets, 4 bean salad, apple butter, and... More
