Something my wife and I have been wanting to do for some time. Quite an adventure requiring some physical effort. However, we are of a certain age but we still managed it. Be prepared. You will need a reliable head torch and suitable clothing. The water level in summer is usually relatively low but in some places it was still well above waist level. Expect to get very wet and be prepared for the cold. Mostly quite an easy scrabble but the low waterfall is a little challenging. The climb up the steel rungs in the cliff might challenge some people and the final ledge crawl was slightly scary.Took us about an hour but younger, fitter people would be faster. Probably not suitable for those who don't like being underground but it wasn't particularly claustrophobic. Great experience.

One of the best experiences during our recent trip to NZ. Reviews i read prior made it sound like a spot worth checking out but the experience was amazing and far beyond either of our expectations; my husband and i had a ball. Freezing water and don't attempt without a headlight, good footwear and reasonable fitness. One not to be missed

Awesome! Free parking + toilets. Fantastic location. You can go through the underground stream which is pretty unique. Or follow the pathways above ground soaking up the stunning landscape.

I’d like to point out some of these reviews are talking about the walk around the cave and some the cave itself. Done let them fool you into thinking the cave is an easy walk. The cave walk I’ve done twice and the second time we had to turn around and walk back as some couldn’t get up the waterfall near the end. Walking back with the current flowing in the same direction is extremely difficult. Shoes need to be on tight and head torches and back ups vital. When we entered the cave the water was neck deep for the first 5 metres and the rest knee to waist deep. I believe my first successful trip it was only belly button max and I wonder if this made it more difficult. The cave walk is fantastic if you are fit and prepared.

I have been to Craigieburn heaps but visiting in late January this was the first time we did the walk through the cave.
This was much more full on than I would have expected and can see how this could catch someone out.
Although it's "only" 362m it took us about 45 min to walk through it. The water came up to may waist in a couple spots. Wetsuit booties was my footwear and they were great. It was a hot summer day and although the water was cool we thought it was refreshing.
There was one 1m high waterfall that I needed assistance to get up.
Headlamps/hands free light is crucial. You need your hands free at all times to keep balance and help get you up certain obstacles.
You must be able to climb a ladder and crawl on a narrow ledge to get out of the cave.
Heed the warnings at the start and enjoy this unique experience.

Walked through twice due to starting with two young children. The water was about waist height and took the children back out as it was a little too hard for them. Took my wife through first. Really enjoyable and easy going except the waterfall. Trick is to get a foothold under the waterfall and get a push up or pull up. Took my father who is 70 the second time (a very fit 70!). He can't swim and is a little claustrophobic, but knows I would get him through. We struggled a little more with the waterfall, but managed it after a few goes. Carry spare batteries and even better a spare torch as I needed a second one as one shut down. Very difficult in the dark. If you are not fit do not try it.

Our family group of 6 aged 50 to 80 stopped here after a visit to Castle Hill. While the oath was well kept and not that steep it was difficult for our eldest. We walked down to the top cave. Great sight and hard to imagine the cavers actually going down this. Worth the visit and suitable for most people's level of fitness.

Very short hike to see a cave. The path down was very stream and muddy so be prepared. We didn’t do the entire hike through the cave as you need proper wear and gear but it’s worth to just go and look at the entrance.

While we had a great sunny day out here trekking, the path wasn't too suitable for our elderly parents (in their 70s). Couldn't find the exact openings to the cave so had a fun time looking around
