This was our first time here. There are several places to see: museum, gardens, house. We were able to see the gardens and home. The gardens were lovely and the views along the river were lovely. We did a self-taught of the house. It was very enjoyable seeing the different rooms and furnishings and reading about the history of the... More

A superb American Impressionism exhibit was showing while were visiting. We loved it all. The garden was lovely although I would have liked for things to have been labeled. The house was wonderful and the history was fascinating. I was intrigued by the questions in each room challenging you to find certain little things in the room. Made it really... More

The old house is still the best part, with its amazing dining room adorned with panels painted by Impressionists on holiday rooming at Ms. Florence's. One can almost imagine them sauntering in, daubed with paint and primed for exuberant debates about art and society, answering the dinner bell. Interesting link to American political history as well, through Mrs. Woodrow Wilson.

The museum is located on the edge of the Lieutenant River, and offers a treat for the senses. We toured the current exhibit,American Impressionism and the Garden Movement 1887-1920.Thoroughly enjoyed it! We then toured the Florence Griswold House and were treated to a very informative tour about Miss Griswold and the Artist Colony.A delicious lunch at Club Flo was the icing on... More

This hidden gem is a must see museum for anyone interested in American impressionism. The property includes a modern museum as well as the original boarding house where artists stayed during summers. The house still contains many of their paintings and most charmingly, a dining room where the artists were invited to paint pictures on the wooden paneling. It is... More

This is a wonderful small museum (art) and a further house museum complete with painted panels on doors and in the dining room. Very friendly staff (with great restaurant suggestions too!) and a beautiful garden complete a lovely way to spend a morning with a dear friend. Can't wait to see what they decide to do with their new land... More

The house, grounds and of course the paintings were wonderful. Just off the Rt 95 highway. Had driven by the highway signs so many times and decided to make a visit on this trip down Rt 95. We were not disappointed. We brought a few snacks to eat while sitting and enjoying the peaceful views of the Lieutenant River. Viewing... More

The house has been carefully restored and is a real experience to walk round. A volunteer welcomed us and gave an excellent introduction to the house and Florence Griswolds fascinating life. The mature grounds are delightful sloping down to the river. Good museum of impressionist art and a superb cafe. We were able to sit outside on the terrace overlooking the... More
