Nothing but some grass. You would think this could be a cool space but it’s not really. Just some grass and some trees and homeless people sleeping on the ground.

Dorty, badly maintained, full of drugged users. There are occasions that there are events, but the daily events include fights, and yelling homeless people

This is a classic downtown New England town green; with a row of three churches that date back to Colonial times. A dedicated city cleaning crew has kept the Green relatively neat and suitable for walking. Lots of surrounding shops & restaurants.

The New Haven Green is a nice spot downtown to grab some fresh air and/or people watch. More than that, though, the Green has an interesting role in the city's history going back to the original city layout and up to the present day.

Any drug you could possibly want can be found on the green. Temple St. and Chapel are a filth laden display of homeless derelicts, drunks and addicts. If gawking at the dregs of humanity is your thing then this is the place to go.
The Green at one time was a wonderful area to sit and read, enjoy a summer afternoon...not anymore. It is panhandler's paradise and the area is filthy.
Drugs and alcohol and the lack of police attention has led to a terrifying place.
Getting the bus hub off the chapel St. area would help a lot to getting rid of vile element.

The green is a nice place to gather during the day. It is surrounded by some nice buildings that are nice to photograph and explore. At night the area seems a little sketchy though.

Several homeless folks, construction, dead grass. None of it was likeable, wasn't very nice, band I didn't feel particularly safe

This is a wonderful place to go for a stroll, enjoy the nice weather, people watch, and enjoy many of the numerous activities that are held here. They have concerts here in the summer, and over the holidays it's a great way to look at the lights. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping opportunities nearby, especially as Yale is so close. Yale, and the historically-planned Green, give this area a lovely settled feeling. When school is in session, there are a lot of students lounging on the green or playing frisbee.

When you look at the modern skyscrapers along the park’s Church Street side, it can be easy to forget how historic the New Haven Green really is. This is the centerpiece of the New Haven Green Historic District, the heart of the original Puritan settlers’ “Nine Square Plan,” which represented the first planned city in America. The Green has existed since 1638, and continues to be a major gathering place for New Havenites all these centuries later.

That's what brought us to the green. Nice place/layout to see a summer concert. Security is on hand if needed. Will say as you walk into the green there are elements that take place that can make this area a bit sketchy. Don't know what it's like when there isn't a concert taking place.
