Went to museum after attending mass at St. Mary's near Yale. Exhibit "Full of Grace" which shows paintings of the Blessed Mother from around the world and different cultures. History of the Knights of Columbus is very extensive. Good exhibit on Pope John Paul II. Staff at giftshop were great. Museum worth a second visit. Also visit St. Mary's where K of C founder is buried.

When visiting New Haven, CT, I recommend a visit to the Knights of Columbus Museum, especially if you or a family member is or was a member of the Knights. The museum is a history of the the Knights from its founding in New Haven up to present day. It is a treasure trove of artifacts and history.

This museum is a celebration of life and faith. It was an interesting collection of Catholic heritage in the US and the many wonderful acts of kindness and humanity from the Knights of Columbus. The artifacts from the late 1800 and early 1900 are preserved and displayed in an interesting manner. The artwork was inspirational and creative. The papal collection was my favorite and the gift store had affordable items for every budget. It was very easy to find and parking was available under the building. We ate at a local diner 2 blocks from the museum and it was easy to get back on I 95.

My family went to see the creches here around Christmas and were impressed. Their collection was extensive and they did a great job explaining the role of creches in various cultures throughout the exhibit. The rest of the museum seems a little hokey (as does the concept of grown men pretending to be knights), but I would highly recommend going for the creches exhibit. I am Catholic but you do not need to be Catholic (or even Christian) to enjoy the beautiful displays.

We've lived near New Haven all our lives but weren't aware of this gem of a museum. Free entrance and free parking underneath the building are a plus (take the elevator to the 2nd floor). Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The special exhibit of Nativity scenes was breathtaking. Some large, some small, all of them in various Italian styles of artistic expression. There is also a very interesting permanent museum that tells the history of the Knights of Columbus. We learned so much and came away with great appreciation and respect for the good work they do to help those in need. There's also a nice gift shop -- we bought some lovely small ceramic Nativity sets for only $12.00, to save for Christmas gifts next year. They plan to display German Nativity scenes in 2015.

A very nice place to send a few hours, the exhibits change and some of them are world class. The historical story of the Knights of Columbus is interesting and provides a good overview of what this service organization has done for over 100 years. Worth a visit when in New Haven , check of the website to see what is being displayed.
Nice gift shop and friendly folks. You don't have to be Catholic or a Knights of Columbus to enjoy the displays.

While in New Haven on business last year, I stopped by the Knights of Columbus Museum, which is also the K of C international headquarters to see the WW I exhibit celebrating the 100 yr anniversary of WW I prior to the exhibit being taken down. The building itself, which is relatively modern is of an interesting architectural style, houses the K of C headquarters administration, a gift shop and in a separate area Catholic religious artifacts pertaining to the knights history. The WW I exhibit took up close to two thirds of the exhibit space and was very well appointed, with exhibits being accurate, well organized, professionally set up, and historically correct. I spent over two hours exploring both e WW I and K of C exhibit, all on the same floor. Both exhibits could rival what one sees at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC or the World War One Museum in Kansas City, except on a smaller scale. The museum is in center city and the parking is in a garage below the museum. My visit was not only a educational but very enjoyable experience.
