Fun walk from here to the lighthouse. All along the shore with a nice path. Nice to get away for fresh air during COVID.

We drove a bit along the park, well sign-posted and a short drive from New Haven town centre. There were a few stopping places and they all seemed to have picturesque views. We only stopped at Fort Nathan Hale which has an interesting array of flags (English thru various examples of the US flag up to present day) as well as some underground bunkers, a drawbridge and Black Rock Fort which is about 20 ft all round and looks out onto the bay.

Interesting for 30 minutes and it's free.

This park was recently renovated to include a new fishing pier and path to Fort Hale. Nice view of the sound. Beautiful sunsets and photo opportunities.

As we were driving through New Haven, we saw signs for the park. Initially, we walked the pier, not realizing the actual historic site was adjacent to it. We enjoyed the beauty of the setting along the shore of Long Island Sound, as well as the various informational postings. It was a pleasure to watch people fish, the birds flit about, and relish the flowers, sun and fresh air.

This park was really dirty. Not nice at all. There was trash everywhere. There were crazies and druggies parked in a parking lot really close to the park. Just not a nice place. It's like the park that the city and the police choose to ignore. This could be a nice place if the city chose to clean it up and kick the druggies out.

This place seems small, "banal" and boring but it is a PERFECT Place for Sunset Photography. I'm a photography lover and I love to capture sunset moments in this place. A natural treasure!

It's also perfect for a small walk.

We spent an hour or so visiting Fort Nathan Hale and Black Rock Fort in New Haven. We were the only visitors that day....at least while we were there. It is too bad this place is not being refurbished like it should be. The people who were there, one volunteer and one town worker were wonderful. The nice gentleman gave us lots of information about the fort. He even came down while we were exploring and unlocked one of the bunkers so we could go inside and check it out. He stayed with us and continued to give us even more of an education about the fort. More amazing Connecticut history I never knew. Well worth the visit. Hoping they are able to restore more of the fort. It would be a shame to see it crumble and eventually have nothing left. There is an amazing drawbridge that they were able to rebuild with the original iron works. It is too bad the moat is not as full as it once was. Still...worth a look.

It looks more interesting from a boat in the harbor than it actually is. if you are in the area, make the stop, but I wouldn't make a destination of it.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this area of New Haven. Is this also known as Lighthouse Park?

This sounded great, a Revolutionary War theme. Turns out it's only a small park area. We walked around and followed a trail to the beach, then to the fishing pier, then back out to the road, looking for the visitor center and could not find it. Even a local couldn't tell me where it was. I pulled up a map on my phone and then we realized that an empty, sorry-looking, not quite a building was the visitor center on the map. Very disappointing.
