This is a nicely maintained park with nice trees, especially beautiful during cherry blossom season. There’s also a nice farmers market in summer and fall, and it’s close to New Haven’s little Italy area (including Peppe’s And Sally’s). Ps Sally’s is better.

Connecticut is one of the finest states in the country, loaded with gems not widely publicized such as quaint seaport town dining experiences, smaller cities thriving with life, historic architecture, and top-notch cuisine. New Haven, Ct being one of them.
If you enjoy historic homes and classic New England seasons, Wooster Square Park during its cherry blossom awakening, early spring is a life experience you will not want to miss out on.
While out on a regular routine bicycling work out mid-afternoon, I made it over to Wooster Square Park, an area I frequented just about daily. Although on this day it was much different, as I couldn't believe the beautiful white & pastel pinkish colors everywhere, while the classic historic architecture and bright blue sky maintained the backdrop. Unreal! As this was my first experience with cherry blossoms, it was like entering a paradise with white snow petals everywhere. So surreal it was almost cartoon-like in nature and like being in a painting.
The peak of the cherry blossom awakening only lasts a few days, so make sure to catch it quickly, if you are looking for the experience. I made sure to go each day until they completely faded out. As I wanted to take in each moment of their life as much as I could.
I am impressed with the New Haven, East Rock, Westville areas of CT, my short visit for just shy of a year ( due to Covid-19) was fantastic, glad I was able to enjoy the experience. I am a CT native and was not aware of the cherry blossoms until recently. Overall the entire season change was amazing for me, especially because I was a Hawaiin resident for over 5 years therefore the season changes were completely outer dimensional with the cherry blossoms and signature New England historic architecture to top off the drastic colorful reality shifts. Mindblowing!
(This experience took place in early April 2020. I am just now writing the review. Tripadvisor will not allow the option to pre-date)
I really hope anyone that enjoys nature, scenery and classic New England feels will make it to the cherry blossoms as it is an amazing lifetime experience.

The park is pretty all year, but the April/ May explosion of cherry blossoms for a few days makes me think of Japan's obsession with them. Plenty of benches for loafing and interesting sculptures, not to mention the petting zoo of building styles on the perimeter.

This park is stunning, and surrounded by gorgeous historic homes and buildings. A photographer’s dream, especially during Cherry Blossom season.
The CitySeed Farmer’s Market on Saturday’s is excellent too, and you’re a block from some of the best pizza in the world.

and it is across from Wooster Square, but we DID drink our coffee and eat out goodies in the park. The Farmer's Market is a really, really nice one. A lot of variety, from the mushroom farmer to the SoNo Bakery (I could have eaten myself into a coma) to the Jitterbus coffee food truck and the flowers, the dairy people with glass bottles - all good stuff. People were greeting each other and as visitors to the city, it just felt good to be there as a part of it. Plus it was just down the block from where we stayed at the Historic Mansion of New Haven.
