We drove over this bridge on our way to Mystic, CT. Too bad we crossed in the morning and could see It lit up. It is very scenic to the south with views of the Long Island Sound. This is one of the many pretty river crossings in Connecticut.

The Pearl Memorial Bridge is also known as the Q by locals. It bridges the Quinnipiac River in New Haven, Connecticut. It’s a pretty bridge that lights up at night.

In daylight or perhaps more strikingly after dark this is genuinely impressive. From a distance or while driving over it, the skill and ingenuity is marvellous.

It is hard to believe that with all of the bridges throughout the U.S., that the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge is the first "extradosed" bridge ever built to completion in the U.S. It is located on Interstate 95 and it was built over the Quinnipiac River, hence the nickname "the Q Bridge". So, what is an extradosed bridge? An extradosed bridge retains the aesthetic qualities of a cable-stayed structure, but with shorter towers. The shorter towers were needed because of the flight pattern approaches to Tweed-New Haven Airport. The bridge is 4,735 ft. long and it is 60 ft above the water. It carries six lanes of Interstate 95 traffic over the Quinnipiac River. Not only is the bridge beautiful to look at during the day, but at night, the bridge has been beautifully illuminated and it does make an interesting site to visit. The bridge also beat out about 83 other entries to be named the Grand Prize winner of AASHTO's (American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials) 2016 America's Transportation Awards. It was dedicated as a memorial to commemorate the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1995.

At night the blue lighting makes this bridge look lovely. Try viewing from shoreline either side of New Haven.

It's a pretty bridge to drive across/on. I liked that it was lit up in blue. There's a good view of it by the water in the parking area for the Long Wharf food trucks.

Reviewing because I love when infrastructure makes it onto TripAdvisor. Enjoyed driving over this bridge, gorgeous design and lights at night - and loved finding out that it's a Pearl Harbor memorial.

We stayed at the Omni Hotel on the 16th floor and our room faced the bridge. It looks really cool at night .

A vast improvement over the former Q bridge. The colored lights a interest to boring I 95, making New Haven special.

Replaced a narrow bridge that was a traffic nightmare at rush hours. Now wide and easy to negotiate. Unless you're a suspension bridge nerd, it's interesting only at night, when the superstructure is lit in color.
