For nearly 70 years, we have provided visitors the opportunity to experience nature first hand, whether it be on our 10+ miles of trails, in our natural history museum, our Nature Store, or as part of one of our many programs. The creation of the Coogan Farm Nature and Heritage Center in 2013 has added additional layers of education, history, and ecology to our offerings. Our mission is to inspire an understanding of the natural world and ourselves as part of it - past, present and future. It is our hope that through DPNC and Coogan Farm that we will help our visitors foster a personal environmental ethic.

The trails were short and not spectacular. The map was ok and some of the outer trails were not well marked and were same way in/out, not loops. I did enjoy the old stone walls on one of the trails.

Really enjoyed this center. It's not huge but I felt it was just right for us and our six year old daughter. We consider ourselves avid nature lovers and this place hit the spot for a nice walk around the trails discovering things we found interesting. We hope to return once it warms up and discover even more.

Thanks for visiting! Definitely come back in the spring, summer and fall, there is always something different to see! Did you notice all the skunk cabbage popping up? And the peepers and tree frogs have started singing! Spring is coming! More

Our family loves the Nature Center. It is the perfect place to take the kids for some interesting and manageable hikes. The staff also leads some longer and interesting local hikes. There is a wide range of on site programming for kids in different age groups, and terrific summer camps.

This is a very rustic attraction with trails and wildlife displays. There are some impressive birds there. We went for the butterfly event which was very disappointing as due to weather, not one was seen in the fields. The center really should have given credits for people to come back again.

Hello, and thanks for posting your thoughts! Which butterfly event did you attend (we don't have them at this time of year). Could you contact me directly at enass@dpnc.org with more information about your visit? Thank you! More

Had a wonderful day looking at their birds of prey and spending a few hours walking around their trails. Even in the middle of winter it was a great walk!

Thank you so much for visiting! This is wonderful time of year to walk our trails - hunt for tracks and animal dens! It's so quiet now (and no bugs!) But please come back in spring, summer and fall - every day is different in nature! More

My wife and I came in December 2014 and we snow-shoed the forest loop, this year, we hiked the Avalonia loop and the Ledge trail, very peaceful walks, not a lot of elevation gain, but a... More

Thanks for coming back! If we get good snow this winter, you must come back and snowshoe Coogan Farm - one of the highest points in Mystic and in the winter the views from the top of the Mystic River and out to the drawbridge are amazing! More

Gee, kinda steep cost for a Nature Center. The tree in the middle of the building is kinda cool. Otherwise, not all that much going for it. Don't forget the pest repellent! There is parking available and a nice farmer's market on Sunday afternoon across the street during the Summer months.

Beautiful area, stopped off for a short walk and was surprised by the fields of wild flowers. The tranquil lake and woods added to this little gem.
